Hey all, I'm working on a remake of Exile and made a lot of progress this weekend. I was very close to finishing the exterior oval of the map when forge would no longer allow me to place rocks on the map due to budget. My light budget is pushing 200% and my physics budget is nearly maxed out. I was wondering if anyone who has made big BTB maps can offer any advice on how to save budget in those areas? I'm considering changing the interior of some of the caves to walls instead to get rid of a lot of the rock flats I had to use. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
As for the lightmap, I'd recommend disabling light baking on every piece of terrain that is exposed to direct sunlight. It saves lots of lightmap budget and you don't even notice the different because of the sunlight. Physics budget is more difficult. I'd recommend trying to make some of the outer walls of the map into terrain pieces rather than rocks; rocks seem to take up lots of physics budget, especially the cliff pieces. btw: I've seen the progress of the map on Hugo's youtube videos, and it looks great so far!
Hazmat suits won't necessarily always break it. You need to spawn different types of objects to break it. And physics budget overload isn't a thing until the physics budget reaches around 300 percent, which is hard to do.
II Silent II helped me break the physics budget and I finished the exterior of the map, thanks for all of your suggestions!
