BR or Pistol Starts in BTB

Every chance I got to test a BTB map with AR/Magnum starts were more entertaining than AR/BR. If that doesn't give a clue to me that the former is healthier for Big Team than the latter, I dunno what else will.

 

As of right now I see people completely ignoring warthogs and mongooses due to the overwhelming amount of long range fire from the enemy team. It is kind of frustrating to see the warthog get shot apart and the gunner shot off so easily. 343 may argue that it is social playlist therefore it is just there to be fun and easy, but all I see right now is frustration and lack of variety. BTB currently is just like 4 v 4 but on a bigger map and with 16 players. You may think "Well duh that is what it is." It is, BUT that's it! Nothing else is interesting it is just a bunch of long range shooting throughout the map which frankly belongs with the SWAT or Team Snipers gametypes.

Also when I get in a warthog I have to worry about just one spartan with a BR shooting my ****ing gunner who isn't even in range to fire back. Well guess what all 8 spartans on the other team have a BR so the warthog just becomes a moving target with little threat level to the infantry, it just becomes a useless pile of scrap. How is this even fun? It makes me wonder if 343 even cares about BTB.

The only way I see to show them that BTB needs to change is to make content like this Youtube video and provide data to 343 / everyone else showing them proof on what is happening currently. I really want to take the time to analyze each BTB map currently in matchmaking and compare the weapon kill varieties from BR/AR starts to Magnum/AR. I am currently waiting for GodlyPerfection to release his map analyze tools so I can do this easily; however, if I have to I will go into theater and count every kill in the BTB matches myself.

 

Half the time I don't bother to pick up any weapons off a map because the BR will do the job and keep me from making a risky push for a weapon.

Pistol starts. It's just such a must have if vehicles can ever be viable.

 

BR starts are cancerous.

 

My everyday BTB experience (most of the time):

• Warthog gets a driver.
• Warthog gets a gunner.
• Warthog drives around.
• Gunner gets shot from all directions from rifles and cannot fight back.
• Gunner gets killed.
• Warthog retreats.
• Driver gets out. Weeps. Abandons the once mighty Warthog.

Pistol starts definitely.

 

You should add a poll to this thread just to have a relative percentage of people that prefer magnum starts to br starts.

 

If the warthogs were not made of paper mache, would you be unhappy with pistol/BR starts?

 

I was all for BR Starts, but vehicles just get screwed. I'm conflicted. If it was Magnum/AR starts I feel like I'd be spending a frustrating amount of time looking for a long range weapon... but I could grab a vehicle at least.

It can't happen, but if it were up to me, I'd have Carbine/AR Starts... Best of both worlds.

 

pistol starts would be perfect if the sniper wasn't OP in this game.

 

IMO the problem is that you can shoot the gunner out so easily, not what the warthog is made from. So I'd still vouch for pistol starts.

 

I personally think pistols create more interesting engagements. Hopefully the community lends enough support to solidify a decision by 343 on this.
