Warner Bros is now Blu-Ray exclusive, a move likely to cause what little support remaining for HD DVD to falter and disappear.
They both will fail. Nobody likes Blu-Ray, and no one likes HD-DVD. Production company-wise. They're just paid by Microsoft and Sony to use HD-DVD and Blu-Ray, respectively. But Sony actually does want Blu-Ray to win; on the other hand, Microsoft supports HD-DVD, but really wants both to lose because that way they can come in with 'digital downloads'. They'll just put Xbox Live Marketplace on new DVD players and call it something else. Personal opinions, though, I like HD-DVD.
Blu Ray is better technology, but I hate Sony. HD DVD is lower price and has a name that makes a hell of a lot more sense, but it looks like Blu Ray is wining.
what does Blu Ray stand for any way? I would prefer digital downloads because I can get a TB for $100 from my friend in the Navy.
Blu-Ray has just given HD-DVD a devastating blow. Almost everyone just dropped HD-DVD and now only Universal and Paramount remain (I think its paramount, or is it Warner?). Anways, I personally like HD-DVD, merely because it actually reads at a decent speed where Blu-Ray reads at only a fraction of the speed of a normal DVD making it take forever to just get the information off the disk. I thought the point of media today was to get it fast, not just get alot of it.
I was waiting until there was a "winner", but I was hoping for HD DVD to win cuz you can get it for the 360...but it look like Blu-Ray is winning =(. it's more expensive i think...
I think for right now HD DVD is much better because of the cost issue. I don't want to pay almost double for blu-ray when I can get two HD DVDs for the same price.
Attention all, Blu-Ray has won. There are 2 companies behind HDDVD which is much less than the number behind Blu-Ray. The new fight will be between Blu-Ray and downloads.
Downloads will win. The next generation of Bliu-ray players will most likely replace, not intermingle, the olds ones. I have heard that the new players won't be able to play old discs (and old players wont play the new discs), so you may have to re-buy your library and player when the new and more final versions of the players come out (most likely back up to their $800-$1000 price tag). Hooray for the winner... i guess :/
The only problem with downloading right now is that not everyone has a way of doing it (ex: Tivo, computer hooked up to TV, 360, Apple TV). Plus people like being able to bring movies places like friends houses. Its just how it goes. Plus with a disc, you always have that feel of it being there and not being deleted or something.
Guys, I'm happy with just plain DVDs. But if I have to choose, I choose Blu-ray. Sounds so much cooler.
Blu-Ray won they got the one big company that HDDVD had on their side now. Dont waste your money on a HDDVD player -Donuts
