Bloody Canyon Halo 1 Blood Gulch Remake Spoiler This map was created with the guidance of Halo 1 PC and my remembrance of what made Halo 1 Blood Gulch. I have raised the bases so you can shoot/snipe from base to base. Both bases are smooth. All weapon placements are as proper to the original as possible with minor changes such as replacing one of the shotguns at each base with a plasma pistol, placing the Grenade Launcher in the place of where the flamethrower was, placing DMRs at bases, and adding a Needler under Blue Base's Cave. Teleporters and rocks were set according to the similarities in the hills from both games. Most unnecessary camping spots have been covered up with aesthetic effects. This map has been accurately set with all the original spawns from Halo 1. In Team Slayer games, Red and Blue players spawn at the top of their bases. When people respawn they do so around either of the bases. I made sure that neutral slayer respawn areas were set on each batch of spawn points surrounding the bases so no one spawns next to each other. I also made sure that in objective games, only specific teams can spawn at specific bases. I believe this map is the closest you will get to the Halo 1 experience that I'm sure most of you remember. A few problems... -The cover on top of both bases are incorrect. -There is only one warthog and no other vehicles and that warthogis situated to the right of the base. -What are those things poking out of the ground? But despite all of this, i think that you will eventually make the best version of Blood Gulch out there. You did it with Lockout and you'll do it with Blood Gulch too. You have my support. P.S. using an orange light in the cave and then covering it up makes the cave feel like the original.
The cover on top of the bases isn't incorrect at all. I have positioned the bases according to the caves and the ledges. I positioned the cover of the base closely to the original. Halo 1 allowed you to have many numbers of vehicles. If you played Halo 1 PC, you'll see what I'm talking about. What things poking out of the ground? The rocks? Make sure you aren't confusing Halo 2's Coagulation PS: I did not want to use any lighting. Lighting can cause framerate issues.
i bought halo ce for xbox live arcade AND bought an original xbox console a year ago just so i could play it. bungie have made structure pieces in the game for the sake of remakes. The cover, crenillation is the correct cover piece for the top of the base and the struts in hemhorrage are correct to blood gulch. The lighting effect i recommend makes no framerate lag whatsoever. I remade blood gulch myself and i used this technique to light up the cave appropriately and i didn't mean the rocks. that metal thing sticking out of the ground in front of each base. i agree that hemhorrage is not close to the original at all but the base layout is just about there except from the "cover" structures behind the teleporter and opposite side of the base.
I do not agree with using the crenellations. They are much shorter than the cover provided for Halo 1. The struts are too tall and are made more for coagulation. Using them actually creates too much cover. The metal things made out of columns and antennas are trees. Just because bungie gives you pieces meant for remakes does not mean you should always use them. Thank you for your criticism for i have considered all of this before making the map. Also, all lighting can create lag. I prefer not to use any.
