Might I add that there needs to be an Advanced Options sub-menu for Ordnance Drop objects like there is for every other Forge object? Not all weapon ordnances are necessarily right for all the different game type variants that one might want available on the same map. For example, an Energy Sword ordnance might be appropriate on a small-ish map for a game of Slayer (Infinity or otherwise), but maybe not for a game of Oddball. At the moment (unless I've missed something), the only way to have the Sword be present in Slayer and not in Oddball would be to save an entirely different variant of your map, one with the Sword ordnance for Slayer, and one without it for Oddball, all because there is no way to go into Advanced Options and set it as a Game Specific/etc... object. Now imagine this example when trying to make the weapon ordnances appropriate for CTF, or Dominion, or Extraction, or Regicide, etc., all on the same map. Granted, this may not be the case very often, but if there is even *one* weapon ordnance that you may want to spawn for one game type but not for another, you would need to save a completely separate variant of your map, one with that weapon ordnance on it, and one for without it. Edit: Actually, on that note, I think there would be a "NO_DOM" type of Label for all the other game types (ie: NO_SLAY, NO_CTF, NO_etc...). It already works for Dominion (for vehicles, for example), to keep them from spawning in Dominion games where they're not wanted, additional "NO_" labels would be really useful for keeping certain objects out of certain game type variants for maps without the need to save a completely different variant of the map.
Something else just occured to me that should be addressed if 343i decides to fix up Flood mode: NO ARMOR ABILITIES.
I haven't even used Forge since it's so lame and apparently there's even more lacks than I thought. Looking at that list you can barely make flood maps, which probably is the reason BIOC hasn't started up again, because we've had more than enough time to make some good maps.
A checkpoint system for spawning during linear infection similar to spawning progression in Race. Would eliminate the need, use and confusion attached to teleporters.
I think one thing that got missed is more of a forge problem, but it cripples linear infection is the object restriction spawning boundaries. I am talking about when an object can't spawn because of nearby players. This ruins all the methods of "doors" when the object won't spawn because players are standing very close to it.
While this is a bit inconvenient, couldn't you just make a massive trait zone that takes up the entire map and turns of AA usage?
I don't make custom Flood maps. I'm suggesting this as a general fix to the default Flood mode. Neither human players nor Flood players should have Hardlight Shield, Promethean Vision, or Active Camo abilities. It doesn't make sense. Earlier today, I was playing Flood, I was a Flood character, and I was trying to kill a Spartan character. The fracking bastard had a Hardlight shield, and I got killed from behind while trying to kill the deuche bag with the HLS. Now, in hindsight, I should have payed more attention to my Motion Tracker, but it wouldn't have done me a whole lotta good even if I had seen the guy coming up behind me. On a side note: I don't know about the rest of you, maybe I'm the only one, but I'm fast starting to hate the Hardlight Shield. It's getting abused just as much as Armor Lock got abused.
This thread isn't so much about personal preferences for the default settings of Flood, but rather meant for fixes or additions to the gametype as how it is present in the game. I'm guessing 343 Industries isn't going to change this in the Matchmaking Flood playlist. I can definitely understand your annoyance as Living Dead in Halo 3 didn't have AA's either (I know there weren't any AA's in Halo 3 at all but you get the point, nostalgic feelings and stuff), and just like you I too appreciate some Flood without AA's every now and then. However, as time progresses, games change and so do little things in games such as the exact specifics for gamemodes such as Halo's zombie gametype. Honestly I just don't think they're going to And as a matter of fact, since you DO have the option to disable all AA's for both humans and zombies in custom games, it's kind of pointless to post your opinion on having the default settings set as enabled because you can easily turn it off yourself. TL;DR - Even though I understand what you're saying, it's very unlikely 343i is going to change this in Matchmaking. And since we can turn it off ourselves in Custom Games it can't really be considered a recommended fix or addition in the first place either. For what it's worth: The Hardlight Shield is far less abusable than the Armor Lock, because it's actually possible to counter it. Armor Lock wasn't at all.
With the recent title update I for one was hoping for some changes to the custom game options of Flood to be implemented. However, only two changes were made; • Friendly fire turned off in Flood to prevent exploits. • Fixed Flood character models to allow for Warthog and Mongoose use. *sigh* Oh well
We just definitely need to get them our list, it's clear that they don't realize how many things they rather need to change.
I think I would actually enjoy custom games if 343 hadn't sacrificed Infection (which means they sacrificed a HUGE chunk of the mini-game creating community) for the sake of a new player model. I mean, I'm so upset that they nuked Assault, and ruined (IMO) CTF for traditional games, but they really made it hard to play custom games creatively. /genericOpinion
Well, I gotta say... the Flood character model was an amazing addition to Halo 4 because I always thought Infection didn't feel right just having the infected as a certain colored spartan. With the Flood character model you can really make it scary, which is what Flood/Infection is about to me (and holding out and surviving as long as you can of course). Nothing like a good Flood map with a destroyed city, house/cabin type of theme, or even the abandoned mine themes that REMkings makes very well. We just really need the damn weapons for Flood!!! If they just added that I would be happy. I know the reason they took it out was because of the sword being apart of the flood model... but damn who cares the mods look fine with them holding a gun and the sword stickin out. I know they 343i won't do that though. I think they would need a whole second flood model without the sword for them to be happy adding the weapon options in. I don't see them doing that though . I can definitely see them just adding back in the old infection gametype. But I want to use the FLOOD MODELS because it really is better with those.
The Flood don't need weapons, they've already got that bladed-arm thing. That's their weapon. Putting any other kind of weapon on a Flood character is worse than giving them AA. I would like to see them add back in the old Infection gametype. That was awesome. One thing I would suggest about the Infection characters is give them two colors, instead of one (In Halo: Reach, the three Alpha Zombies were red, and all the other Spartans were turned green after they were infected). The color scheme would be Green primary, and Red secondary.
I would like to suggest that they give us options for dominion turrets as to whether or not they fire on everyone, just humans, or just zombies. More importantly, they need to allow us to activate dominion bases in flood (and preferably other gametypes as well) so that we can use the gates and antennas as switch-activated doors and bridges.
what about a new flood gametype where flood dont get aa insted they get to have different floods. like in halo combat evolvrd there is carrier form, unarmed combat form, and armed combat form. so have the load outs like this CARRIER wont show on motion senser no wepon but you can trigger the explotion to infect the spatans HUNTER like we have no but no aa GRAVEMIND has assult rifle but like in the halo combat evolved campain they are not very acurate compaied to humans or the covanet i also think we shuld have in the control menu be able to go in to 3rd person veiw
Cool ideas, but they're never going to do that. They won't put that much time into making a single gametype into a whole new thing. Those things only happen in Zombie/Survival specific games such as Left 4 Dead.
Sure, but this is really meant for things to be changed in Halo 4 and although we appreciate your input, we rather hear suggestions for things that have a higher possibility of being fixed in this game.
