BigTeamBattle.net Looking for Quality Maps

    BigTeamBattle.net is looking for quality Halo 4 Forge maps for their leagues and ladders, and competent Forgers to help perfect the maps according to BTBnet specs. Get your competitive Big Team Battle map featured in Streams and Videos on Twitch and YouTube, potentially seen by thousands of gamers, by submitting your map for use in Official Big Team Battle leagues and tournaments. The Spring Tourney that BTBnet just held had a $1000 prize and was the most populated Halo channel on Twitch that weekend.

    Maps must have the following qualities:

    * Strong aesthetics
    * Good frame-rate performance
    * Solid gameplay for up to two gametypes (Flag, Dominion, Slayer, Extraction)

    Submit your maps by putting them in your fileshare and posting a link in the Official BigTeamBattle.net Map Submission Thread. Forgers interested in helping set the maps up to specs need to be able to take direction and help set up the maps just so, as requested by BTBnet's map team leader, and can post their interest in that same thread.

    Time's a wastin'! The first event to feature these new maps is set to happen mid June, and the maps will need to be chosen well before then. So head on over to BTBnet and submit your maps today!

    I know this may not entirely apply, but if I were to create a big team map using an overload canvas and submit it to you guys, would that be acceptable assuming the map meets the above requirements?

    I'll probably submit a couple. I think this should peak some interest for some of the other BTB forgers too.

    I don't think so, because BTBnet is now in partnership with 343i, and those maps are the "m" word, aren't they? Plus, there is always the possibility that the maps might be included in matchmaking, so I would stick to default settings. I will check tho, to make sure.

    Well this would be great if I actually had an idea of a map to forge and/or actually enjoyed Halo 4... Ah well, I'll give it a go and see what I can come up with, although I don't expect anything overly inspired.

    BTBnet has been alive and kicking for several months. They've got some big names checking out the maps and gametypes and joining in on the customs. They just had a $1000 Spring Tournament. Again, if your map/s are chosen they have the potential to be seen by thousands of people. If you have a map that you would like to submit, it needs to go in the Official Thread, unfortunately I am unable to get it there for you as I don't have the time.     UPDATE: Just learned that there is the potential for winning maps to make it into matchmaking. Also, there may be a money prize for quality maps. Hopefully will have more info on that soon, but in the meantime - - GO SUBMIT YER MAPS!

    So how long do we have? I don't have a BTB map to submit yet (I'm not much for BTB forging) but I'm gonna give it a go. Is there a set deadline I have to meet?

    I have enjoyed a long friendship (of the XBL variety) with Nooch, and he's made many great maps, but I don't count Lam Lam among them. It has a few significant issues, particularly how people would gravitate to camping spots and never want to move - the upstairs of the bases were the big offenders, due to sniper spawning proximity and plentiful cover; the rooftop with rockets and the entire upper level of the structure on the opposite side were similar. It resulted in very standoff-y (not Standoff-y... well maybe a bit of that too!) gameplay where movement through any open area was begging to be smited.

    The flag location was also frustrating because if teams chose to play heavy defense, it was basically impossible to pull - there's just one way in and out, to a position which can easily be camped with a CQC weapon; the entire base around that spot is also campy and large, making it hard to wipe out all available enemies; and even if you do, it was usually hard to get out before they would spawn not that far away and come charging back in. Basically, against that kind of setup you needed a really strong, coordinated push and the flag almost HAD to go out on a warthog.

    Not an atrocious map, don't get me wrong, but it wasn't my favorite forged map in Reach BTB either. That probably would have been Wayont (though whoever added the shield doors needed to be smacked). My least favorite - undoubtedly Renegade (I think it was called); that map was excruciating in the gameplay it promoted, and in how often it devolved into one team spawn-raping the other with the banshee/revenant/sniper/laser combo platter.

    For the record the variant that made it into MM was waaay outdated. I had tested Lam further and made many substantial changes to the map including

    -removing the bunker boxes around the flag
    -removing rocket hog
    -replacing the team snipers with a neutral sniper at rocket hog spawn
    -moving rocket launcher to the middle of the map
    -moving gl to the green building
    -bunch of other little stuff


    I tried to get it updated and implemented into MM but it never happened.

    Those all sound like really good changes - wish I'd gotten to play that version.
