Ah, who doesnt love a good cartoon. As we mature, so do the programs we watch. But one thing that remains constant in most of our lives are cartoons. Some of us have different opinions of what is the best cartoon. When someone says the word cartoon, what pops into your mind? When I hear that word, I think of old cartoons like ren and stimpy and Spongebob Squarepants and that style of animation. The kind of cartoons I'm thinking of for this debate of opinions are more of some of the better known and popular mature cartoons like: The Simpsons Family Guy South Park American Dad Futurama King of the Hill Drawn Together Robot Chicken Each of those have a certain feature or style that make it unique. The simpsons as the revolutionary cartoon and it is widely popular now among younger viewers. Family Guy, with its unpredictability makes it popular with many people varying in age, although its strong lack of story is also one of its downfalls. South Park is probably the most intelectual and has the most thoughout story, it is widely popular with mature people, its earlier episodes could appeal to younger children, mainly because of shock value. Drawn Together is an easily offensive program and thus it is often overlooked or bashed by people who are extremely sensitive, its unpredictability and disturning nature are its strong suits. What are other people's opinions of what is the best, feel free discuss any cartoon you wish. Keep in mind, there's a reason I posted this in General Chat. I thought of placing it in Debates but its based on opinions and thus not debate-worthy, I also contemplated posting it Off Topic but posting threads there doesnt encourage thought out responses. So its in General Chat so that there can be thought out discussions. Well, what's your favourite?.. and why? Edit: Guys, dont forget some of those classic, you vaguely remember. The pioneer cartoons that revolutionised the genre. The Looney Tunes The Disney Cartoons Then those ones you remember growing up watching at an early age like: Ren & Stimpy Spongebob Sqaurepants The Wild Thornberries Rugrats Rocko's Modern Life Then there's anime. What person can say that they werent hit by the Pokemon bug as a child at that time?
If i had to chose one of those it would be family guy by far. Why you ask? Well family guy is just totally freaggin random, also it talks about some of the most retarded stuff. its always extremely funny
i was gona say that it is very funny also my favorite thing was the part where he made a home aid razor then he brings it close to his chin then it shows the window then blood splatters on it then he screams "louis i did it again!"
I feel family guy's recent episodes have been appauling. They include a few great jokes, but the rest is simply filler. Just a way to kill time until the next flashback. Unlike South Park, Family Guy dont really include much humor into the plot anymore.
QFT. I like Family Guy from time to time, but I'm actually liking American Dad better since it's at least offering a story and not just a bunch of non sequiturs. It just gets tired after a while. Actually, my favorite cartoons of all time have to be Looney Tunes. If you go back and look at some of them, they are brilliant even from an adult perspective. Sure, the references are totally outdated, but the writing is just impeccable. Bugs Bunny was a total asshole, but you rooted for him every time he ****ed with someone anyway. Even the Road Runner/Wile E. Coyote cartoons have some wonderful comedic timing. Couple all that with the time that it was written (1940's on) and the fact that all the cells were indiviually hand drawn, I just can't help but put them at the top of my list.
The top three are my favourite cartoons .. Family Guy Simpsons South park .. Family Guy is random as hell and i love it ! So i pretty much prefer it with no story .. And south park has some huge funny moments .. Like the WoW episode ! And simpsons is good as it has a story and some very funny moments ..
I dont mind Family Guy, they peaked at Season 4 IMO, but I still enjoy watching it every now and again. I really like American Dad now. My few favs are South Park American Dad Simpsons I'd almost forgotten about Looney Tunes, they were amazing for their time. Their jokes and humor are often immitaded but never duplicated. The Looney tunes helped shape all of the cartoons listed.
I love all those cartoons you listed, so much expect for drawn together, i dont own cable and i only seen it like twice.
Family Guy, for sure, American Sucks, that's just a wannabe Family Guy. I like The Simpsons too, though. And where are all the Old-School cartoons? EDIT: Yeah, I've liked Spongebob Squarepants, still ike it though, lol. And Rocko's Modern Life, Looney Toones FTW, and all those Disney cartoons aswell.
Its been a few years, but the episode i saw was about an homcidal pickacu, and some yellow think pulling a lamp out of its ass. then the other one was the gay guy kep resawning over and over.
Yeah that's one of the very first episodes. They got worse more offensive. A couple episodes that can only be defined as "WTF!?" - Xandir and Tim, Sitting in a Tree A Very Special Drawn Together Afterschool Special
Lulz, I remember Rocko's Modern Life. Good times, I used to love that show. As for now, I guess Family Guy or The Simpsons. Though the writing on the newer episodes is somewhat stale, that Star Wars Family Guy was awesome.
Simpsons are deffinetly the winner of this because it has smart jokes, you the ones you have to think about. Drawn together is stupid and so is South Park, I give South Park a 0.5/10 because of the Guitar Zero Episode and the Make Love, Not Warcraft Episode made me chuckle a little, but the rest of series is swearing and a peice of **** with a cape... I watch the others to and love them but.. Simpsons= Best South Park/Drawn Together= Fail
