BastionHi everyone this is my first map on reach. Bastion is located between Alaska and Montana. It is architecturally akin to sword base in that it has two bases connected with a single, large open room between them. Bastion has 5 playable stories in it with many ways to quickly traverse the map. Less open routes offer the trade off of time vs risk, while a safer route with good elevation and lines of sight will take longer to navigate. Vertical gameplay was also important in bastion's design, bastion has many overlooks, inclines, and even 4 mancannons. Currently I am setting it up for team slayer, flag, and headhunter. Top Mid: Blue Shotgun: Red Base: EDIT: In response to Noxiw's request i have uploaded an additional picture attempting to show the overview. Red base is in the upper part of the picture, and picture 3 of this post is showing the top left room. The blue shotgun (picture 2) is located one story under the bottom left. As you can also see the map is inversely symmetrical, with red and blue spawning looking at one another through glass walls. I will be testing this map soon. Any comments and or constructive feedback is more than welcome...
Wow, this preview doesn't look like it came from a guy with only one post. This looks actually really good, just make sure the map doesnt get too cramped.
This looks great, especially if it really is your first map. Just make sure you have good spawning and weapon placement.
This. It definitely looks as if you've put a lot of effort into this map, you should post an overview shot so we can get a better feel of the layout. I personally would get rid of the grid, they're a bit tacky, but that's my opinion. I'll definitely keep an eye on this.
That looks a really great map, If you need anyone to test it put it on your file share and i'll gladly help
Hey, looks great! Course, that could just be my painfully obvious obsession with vertical map designs, but it does look great. And yah, for new maps...go easy on the weapons. Not saying you won't, but it's a very rookie mistake to make. All that's missing now is the sweet sonorous voice of the Stranger
Thank you everyone for feedback @ Metawaddledee: Thank you. The fact that you mentioned not to let it get cramped is funny because that was on thing i was fighting from early on. The bases were very tricky because they were built around the center room where most of the floors are only a flat block wide. In the end it worked out however, because you can fully jump in any part of the map with at least a meter or two to spare in the shortest rooms. @forgelover7: This is far from my first map. I have been forging ever since foundry in halo 3. I have followed this site ever since winter 08' forge hub favorites. I made many maps with a few i posted on a different profile with not much notice. This is my first map on reach i feel good enough about to post, not my very first halo reach map. As far as weapons go i feel very confident in my placement with a good mix of medium and short range weapons with a grenade launcher to fight over in the middle. @Noxiw: Thank you, means alot. @Shugz117: If you really want to look at it i believe it is currently in my file share named *TEST* bastion.... @Jakisthe: I am not a rookie.....
Awesome looking map. How long did it take for you to get this map to this point and are you planning on making any other maps?
Not saying you are! It's just something which can happen as part of the learning process. Heck, I did it myself. Oh..wait. This isn't your first map. Even more reasoning as to why I'm sure it's great!
This map is brilliant! I love the layout of the map and the added man cannons are in great spots. Well done buddy, im looking forward to seeing this map completed!.
@Dizzyman572: This map took a lot of off and on forging. Nothing crazy but a decent investment in time. I Really wanted the forging to be as solid as possible and i think i have accomplished this so far. Hopefully the fully finished product will reflect the same determination for quality. As far as other maps go, I have one more but it has frame rate lag AND disco so there will have to be some gutting =( @Shrugz117: Thank you sir! That is very encouraging to hear! @Jakisthe: very well constructed post with a lot of thought put into it...
This map looks very interesting, and a great first post! Even with the overhead view, the layout is hard to determine but don't worry about that. I also like your use of the grids, very interesting. Hopefully this map does not suffer from the camping issues that sword base does. If you need any testers I would be more than willing to help out. GT: availablemoth.
