Okay, so I am going to buy a new bass. I am heading th Atlington tomorrow & will be stopping on a Guitar center to try out an Ibanez BTB single cut 6 string bass
    [IMG]

I am ready to move up to a 6 string so I'm in the market. I'm selling my Warwick 5 string

I really love Warwick but I'm looking at about a $1,000 budget. I can buy a 6 string Warwick Basic Corvette for about that much.

Here's the thing. The Ibanez BTB is a neck thru with way more tone options. It has a knob for highs, mids, lows & a switch that changes the frequency of the mids where the basic Corvette only has highs & lows. The BTB is almost top of the line Ibanez but the Warwick is a Rock bass which is the lowest line of Warwicks. They are made in a factory in China where as the other Warwicks are made by hand in Germany. Those bad boys have the extra tone controls & fancy woods but cost $2,000-$10,000!

I have always looked down on Inanez because they make the cheap entry level guitars that true musicians know aren't very great but these BTB686's seem to be the real deal. I think about how I could record a song & post a playthrough on YouTube & I would much rather be seen with a Warwick than an Ibanez but I'm stuck. That neck thru looks awesome & I used to think the single cut looked silly but I play a lot of tapping stuff & resting my thumb on the top would be a lot easier BUT it's still an Inanez. I found play tests of both on YouTube & the Warwick sounds good & has a lot of adjustability in the bridge & nut & the truss rod & back plate have quick snaps instead of screws. They have made some major improvements since I bought my 5 string back in 07 so my playing that one isn't a real test of how the new one would feel.

    IDK!

Anyone here with any experience with either bass, preferably both?

I know your dilemma man. Really you're just gonna have to get your hands on both and get the one that feels right. Personally if you have the means get a fret less. Its going to be sooo much smoother. I've always been an Ibanez man myself cus' I'm just a dirty poor punk rocker kid. In the end don't go for the one just because its popular. Do it Harry Potter wand shopping style. Let the bass choose you.

    I know I probably didn't help :)

That's the problem, I can't get my hands on a Warwick. At least not that model. There isn't any Warwick dealers around here & the largest Warwick dealer in America is in Dallas & I spoke with them & they only have the high end lines there. There is one of those Ibanez' at guitar center though so I can try it.

My 1st bass was an Ibanez sound gear. They are decent but it's like a Camry. It's efficient but nobody wants to by it lol. I will say I've also thought about the fanned fret 6 string Ibanez but it's a soundgear. I can't bring myself to spend $1000 on a soundgear but all the other fanned fret models are way more expensive. I'd love a Dingwall but it's over 2 grand for any of them.

Yup! My wife missed the delivery guy by 5 minutes so I called the facility & tracked the guy down. Went & got it from him across town so I'm stuck here staring at it at work for 3 more hours.

Yeah he's sick & I wish I could afford one of those $3,000 fanned fret Dingwall basses. I'm still currently obsessed with Monuments. I've been playing their songs to get into that style. That's what I'm writing.

Monuments are awesome! Prog metal with a side of djent gets me every time.

Slightly off topic, but I just found out Periphery just released their new single like hours ago! I'm seeing them at House of Blues in Dallas on August 7th!

For any of you that care, I just bought an Ibanez TAM10 (Tosin Abasi signature) used on Reverb. I have been saving for an 8-string to add to my collection & was mainly thinking of doing what I did with my 7-string. Buy a cheap model & upgrade it extensively. I was looking at Agile 8-strings to buy & put in some Bareknuckle pickups & upgrade the hardware and wiring. Last night I saw a 2014 TAM10 for $799 plus $35 shipping in great shape. I talked them (Sam Ash) down to $700 + $35 shipping and it will be here within 2 weeks!

I watched a bunch of videos on it and decided to pull the trigger. It already comes with the features I would have added except for the Bareknuckle pickups. From what I can tell the ionizers are good though but I don't think he really records the animals as leaders albums with this. He's always playing some really expensive steinbergs or something. But it has the single coil middle pickup PLUS the coil tapping switch so it can pull a whole lot of different sounds.
