Banana

    Banana is a symmetrical 4v4 map that I have been working on for about two weeks now, minus the designing phase. It's mostly done and in the testing phase. It's set up for MLG gametypes, CTF, Assault, Slayer, and more to be put in soon. I'm expecting to put in 3-plots and Oddball. It's built next the the gorge between Montana and Alaska on Montana's side, around one of the trees. If you would like to take a look around the map yourself, or get a game going (recommended :) you can download it here, though it isn't the final version.

    After a few testing sessions I decided that MLG Ball, Team Slayer and Bomb play the best.

    I really like the clean and realistic look of Red, Blue and Gold. The other areas seem uninteresting or have architecture that just seems like you put them there because you didn't know what else to do... particularly the bent box post in Green.

    I'd like to get a chance to run around on it. I should be free starting Tuesday, so if you see me on, invite me.

    Nice. I am so glad you've finally posted this fruitalicious wonderpiece.

    The hours I spent helping you test this obviously haven't gone to waste. Your lines of sight, map ranges and weapons all improve an allready amazing layout. The trick jumps add an incredible sense of urgency to the map, since no place is safe when fighting a guy who knows the map layout (such as myself, because of the sheer volume of times I've spent testing this). It's nice to see that they're not overly obvious trick jumps either. I constantly wondered how the hell RottonFuggles kept coming up behind me, before realising he was actually pulling the old Rock 1 to Yellow jump. Oh Fuggles, what a card!

    Overall, this map is everything you could possibly expect out of a fruit-themed map, other than the lack of fruit. I give you 5/5 bananas. Enjoy, eat, and cherish them. I can only hope that with the passing of time, you manage to make this map even better.

    Hawt. Red Looks really clean and sexy. Thats how I like em. :D Anyways, it looks like you put quite a bit of effort into this map. Can't wait till you release it so I can get some games on it.

    Well, I'm sad you didn't mention purple because it was my second finished area, behind gold. Purple also being one of my favorites. The bent box in green was meant to break LoS between both sides because each teams' Respawn Zone Away in CTF is on either side of Green Plat. However, it has now been replaced by two Brace Larges, as shown in the video once or twice. It looks much more fluent now.



    I will if I ever get a custom going, although it's tough for me to get one because I'm not that popular on FH. Anyways, are you on my Fl? I gained quite a few friends on Xbl yesterday and I don't recall who they all were.



    Lol @ all the Fruit/Banana references. And yes I must thank you for all your testing time, however it's sad that you didn't end up in the game of Bomb that I rendered and posted in this thread.

    All of the trick jumps almost weren't intended, I just got lucky that you happen to be able to jump here and then from here to there, and whatnot.

    Anyways, thanks a lot for the big write up! Hope to get another game on this with you soon!



    Lmfao, how did you not realize it had a tree on your way down through the post? You clearly didn't even look at it, lol. It'll be posted in the TG soon so hopefully I can get lots of feedback. As of right now I just need to create more use out of Green Plat. Thanks!

    Man I haven't slept for like 2 days but I looked at pics not the video and yes, I know there is a tree in the first pic but I wasn't really paying attention to it I was looking at teh windows. But yeah, I am a dumbass. :D

    Lol it's alright, man, especially if you haven't slept for that long. Any comments are appreciated.

    hey I still think that you need to add a
    1) a quicker way up and back to base from bottom
    2) Either another ramp or better jump up in base objective area
    3) and a few more spawns

    Oh, and next time lets not play neutral bomb lets play standard both teams plant bomb type.

    1) Could you explain abit more?
    2) The jump-up is easy?
    3) Will be addressed.

    And as of right now it's only set up for Neutral Bomb because that's the MLG Assault Gametype. And this is MLG more or less.

    This looks absolutely amazing Erupt, your maps are progressively getting better and better (Not that any of them were bad) but this is just great!

    This map has nice lighting, aesthetics, and a tree!

    First map I've enjoyed in quite a while. I'm posting the feedback for the map later on and I hope you take the advice :D Well worth a download when it is finished guys! :)

    When I spawned on the opposite side of base I usually saw the path to the 'tree area' and decided to take then realized how far it actually was and got killed very easy there.

    I suggest maybe making a middle path up to the walk ways instead of the only 2 exterior paths which were the only one that worked for me.

    The jump-ups work if you are use to jumping with out 'toggle crouch' which I use for accuracy shots. The jump-ups also created a hiccup in the game-play and made it distracting to me; not only that, but they are very open which allows for quick spot and kill tactic preventing anyone from jumping with out dying easily; in other words if I grabbed the sniper and stood on the opposing side walkway facing our bomb area(even though the spawns would be right there) I could watch every one who was using the jump up and head-shot them because you usually fall slower than you move on your way down.

    I would love to test it again after some of the stuff is addressed.
    and I know this is MLG; but a good amount of MLG has very few jump-ups anyway.
    Set-it up for FFA and TS please so that I can really play you in a match....and not an objective. :D

    Thanks a lot- I've been spending more time on them too. This one's purple/green side went through 4 different designs before ending up here. Gold change once or twice as well. For this map, aesthetic-wise, I wanted lots of glass, as I'm sure you can tell. :)

    It's set up for FFA and TS. I also just finished rearranging and changing spawn zones to direct flow towards green/purple side.

    However, I disagree with your jump-up problem, so I am leaving them as they are. The only problem I have with any jumps are the ones from Gold Ramps to Red/Blue Struts, which can be made, but they are difficult, But I see no way to fix that. The ones into the objective area are just fine if you ask me, you can get from the floor, to the strut, to objective, all in one fluid motion.

    Anyways, thanks for the input. I'm up for a Team Slayer/FFA whenever you are.

    Looks pretty slick. I get a strange Viridian-esque vibe off of it though. It's probably the tree that does it. lol. Nice betrayal in the vid btw. ;)

    Yeah lots of people say it reminds them of Viridian, sadly. That definitely wasn't intended. And if by tonight you mean your night, yes. I won't be able to get on on my night. I could get a custom going on it right now, if you'd like. Especially since I just attempted to fix a little spawn/flow issue, I'd like to see how it works out.

    UPDATE

    • Fixed some spawns
    • Re-directed flow toward Green Plat
    • Moved Red/Blue bases further down the hallways
    • Replaced "bent box" on Green Plat with 2 Brace Larges
    • Thinned out objects on the Green/Purple wall
    • Added pillars in each of the hallways

    Ok, So I'm thinking I should remove sniper tower, and make a ramp up to green where the lift is? What does everyone think?
