Funny enough I was just in Switzerland, left yesterday. Do you mind me asking how you established the name for the map? Besides the location being Eiger, I don’t quite understand the connection between the name and setting. Looks neat, will check it out.
The concept is based on the Sonnenberg Tunnel's former use as a nuclear shelter. The idea is that at some point a road was constructed running through the mountains in the Eiger area, and one of the road tunnels was equipped with emergency stockpiles and blast doors, in a similar manner to Sonnenberg.
That’s some cool ‘outside of the box’ thinking. What inspired you to choose these locations Eiger & Sonnenberg Tunnel? When it comes to Swiss mountains Eiger isn’t really all that famous. That’s just my curiosity asking, haha.
Sonnenberg came up because I'd been idly browsing Wikipedia pages about Cold War nuclear war preparations. I'd also been planning a map set on the side of a mountain road in Monaco (based on a landscape shot in an episode of Top Gear, funnily enough), so when I came back to forging the map after reading about Sonnenberg, the two ideas blended together. Eiger was just looking at a map of Switzerland for high mountain areas and picking one with a cool name
That’s a neat combination of ideas. Thanks for sharing. You really got my attention when you said the map was based on a located in Switzerland. Beautiful country. I would be lieing if I said Top Gear hasnt inspired a map or two of my own haha.
