Yesterday, (July 20, 2011) I spent 5 hours forging a remake of one of the most memorable maps from Halo 2 in an effort to have an absolutely pixel-perfect remake of Ascension. With an Xbox and a smaller TV by my side, I lined up the view with the in-progress remake on Halo Reach with the real thing in Halo 2 and made sure every aspect was spot-on, exactly the same as Halo 2. While there may be some things slightly off, like a railing or the way a block looks in Reach vs. Halo 2, this is the absolute closest remake of Ascension yet. Oh, and I killed myself in Halo 2 over 70 times to find all of the respawn points and translate them into Halo Reach. Enjoy
No offence, but you couldn't have waited until you had taken all the necessary pictures and uploaded them to whatever hosting site you were going to use? You have 24 hours to post them or this thread gets locked.
This pictures are a bit small so it's hard to tell the accuracy of your remake. But, it sounds like you put a lot of time and effort into remaking this map accurately (killing yourself 70 times to find all the spawns?!), so I'm sure it turned out great. I'll have to see how your remake stands up against the other ones out there. SSRC
You know, normally if I saw a map bungie had already remade, I'd put it off as wasted time. BUT, pinnacle is one of my most dreaded maps to play on in Reach. You took dedication to bring back a true classic. A map remembered by all who played halo 2. If you have fixed it to h2 specs then it should play well. All I can say for now is job well done. I'll see if I can get a 1v1 going with eightball tomorrow. If this is exact then I say they should replace bungies sad attempt at their own masterpiece. Good work. And as a next map suggestion, I'd like to see a spot on remake of sanctuary.
Thanks. I was thinking of doing a Headlong remake next, but I simply couldn't find an adequate spot on forge world. I will think of doing a Sanctuary remake, seeing as both the MLG and Bungie remakes are waaaaaaay off.
