I've tried scripting Teleporters with the team settings to "lock out" a team entirely, but it doesn't appear to work on such a basic level. Ideally players wouldn't have to interact with it (e.g. pushing a button) beyond walking into it, but if there's no other way I may resort to that. The idea is that there's a big nexus in the middle of the map similar to Solace, except instead of being a grav lift it teleports Red and Blue players to different locations. Red players get warped to an interior shoulder of Blue Base, and vice-versa.
You could have a teleporter which leads to a boxed rectangular room that has two different team shields as its floor which drop into two different teleporters which bring you to different places. You would have to script some block to move back and forth in that room so nobody could camp in it though.
try blocking the receivers in the bases with team specific shields. The teleporters all on the same channel would force a red guy to teleport to the "unblocked" teleporter and vice versa, at least theorhetically.
Just tried it. Nope Reason being is that a shield in front of a teleporter still counts as an object and thus blocks it. Regardless of what team it is set to. But the false floor does work. What I did was box in 2 teleporters in team shields (one red and one blue) then set a 60 degree slope above them with team shields (one red one blue). When you go through the teleporter, you will go through the one that is your team and slide off the one that is not yours. Kinda looks like this: ...O./ ..../.. ../.... |..|..| |..|..| |O|O| O= Teleporter | = Shield /=Slant shield
I'm thinking you could use a horizontal shield and chromas like a tabletop at about neck height so that one team can walk under and it'll look like it's just their head on a table. Can't see how that will help anything, but it's what I'm thinking cuz I've been awake way too long. I like the drop onto two angled shields idea to sort players. You could Globe Trotter it up by using lifts or man cannons to launch players through a series of them like the pneumatic tubes in Futurama. It surprised me how far you can get in a short time. The shields could bounce them one way or the other. Making the tubes somehow would rock. TurbTastic just told me about how the soccer ball toy obeys the team setting and will pass through its team shields and I assume that works for all kinds of regular objects. Can't think of how to use that for a teleporter thing for now.
