So here's what happened. I couldn't sleep. So I listened to music. I setup a playlist with my favorite and most intense, creativity inducing songs. I listened for a few hours. Nothing. So I started to draw while listening. I made map layouts. Many of them were good, but way too big for Sandbox. (Kept them for da Reach. ) Anyways, I found an intriguing one. Starting at 1:00 AM I began forging. I ended at 5:30. It was a school night, yes, but I felt surprisingly energized throughout the day despite not sleeping. This story is much more intense than it sounds; I was practically in a musical/creative high whilst building. Anyways, since I'm no longer on a creative high, I has no ideas. I need amazing ideas. If anyone wants to see it on XBL, or has ideas, send me a message. I could really use help. Also, if anyone figures they could do a good job and co-forge, then absolutely.
That arc is absolutely gorgeous. I think you should build the map upwards and really utilize your arc. Almost like swordbase with multiple pathways intertwining around the arc. I love what you've done so far and hope to see it completed soon.
Absolutely beautiful! I have free time if you want to co-forge, just check out my map Eradicate if you need reassurance of my abilities. I have a lot of ideas and if you send me a friend request on xbox live then we can make this happen
Well, what do you want to make of it? A mini game, competitive, pointless thing for fun? And, what is the ball in the middle made of? Looks really nice.
Looks extremely cool but i think the gameplay will be pretty poor on this map. But we wont be able to see until you have completed it/
I can see a Guardian inspired layout working wonders with these aesthetics. If you want, I could draw a layout design for you; just for fun. Oh, also, you should take out that ball. Right now, it looks kind of out of place, but that's just me.
I got your friend request. As soon as were both online, I defonantly wanna go over some stuff and show it to you. I have other people who want to work on it too, so I'll see if you've got any great ideas and then go from there. I'm definetly making a competitive map out of this. And the orb/rock/meteor thing is made of Large Blocks merged in one spot. It was very easy to make, just gotta know the technique. Don't even worry about gameplay. I can already see epic battles taking place around the rock, and the layout ideas I have in mind should work out nicely. I agree. Guardian style would defonantly work, I'll just need to add way more cover. But I will NOT take out the ball. The ball is a pivotal point in the map; it's the highest ground you'll be able to get to, and a power weapon spawn. And I think it looks great.
I'm assuming this is the map you wanted me to help you get some ideas? I looked at these pictures for a while and I think i may have some good ones to help you finish this out. I'll get on halo at some point today or tomorrow and we can talk it out to see if you like what I'm thinking.
Thanks ell3ment! I might be on today, but probably not hardly at all throughout the weekend. Lots of family. O.O
Neutral Bomb/Flag would go well with the thing in the middle of the arc. Also a territories with the main one in the center and two others on each side. If you need some help testing (i suck at forging) you can add me (add Roland1995 but it is banned, idk why). I will edit post when I made a new account to use for these two hellish weeks.
hmmm, I've got an idea, not sure how it'd play out or if it's even plausible but whatever. My idea is that you have slightly random, curving paths cutting into and out of the arc. It's hard to explain but if you could think of a racetrack such as Back Burner, it'd be like that adapted for competitive play. If you were to do that I'd strongly suggest co-forging with a good racetrack forger, I'd offer my own services but this map looks way out of my league. Sorry I can't give you a better idea of what I'm thinking of.
I totally agree with the Ohio guy you should build the map upwards otherwise the thing's gonna stick out completely. Unless I suppose you could build the map into a more open style Halo 2 Ascension inspiration. I could totally imagine a banshee curling around that arc.
'Nuff said. By the way, put a sentinel beam on the map. Yes I'm srs. It matches the theme and sentinel beams are just badass.
Guardian/Lockout style. Make SURE your map isnt flat, or just one block height difference... those always play like garbage. Build your map around that as a center.
Yeah, I'm hoping quite a few gametypes will work well. Perhaps, though something like that would need to be a bit more well-designed, like Dream On. I don't really want a sword-base styled map. In fact, I'd love it if just the arc was sticking out of the map. It would give an interesting feel. Although I've already considered banshees. They seem like a good idea. If the map becomes big enough. There won't be bases, but there will be rooms. Yes, they are too badass. That weapon can easily overpower any map, and has way too much ammo. And with height advantages... I don't even want to think about it. Don't even worry about height differences. I usually have more ramps than I do flat surfaces. Well, that's not quite sure, but you get my point. I'll do fine.
Definetely lookin' good. If we're both online in halo 3, send me an invite and I'll add some thoughts/ideas. If you want them at least.
I think you shouldn't mess with the middle because it looks sooo epic. I think the middle of the map should dip down sort of like the middle of Crater on ODST. On each side, you could also have huge "light emitters" that "hold up" the giant ball in the middle. I think that would be pretty epic.
Amazing looking map you have there so far. Creativity highs are one of the most amazing feelings. Nice job dude.
