I heard of a problem with Elites not being able to fit through Teleporter Frames a while back, when forging my current map I didn't understand what the person was talking about since I was able to use them just fine, and Hemorrhage uses them too for that matter. However, when I tried to use a pair of 2 way tele's I realised what the problem is. It's not that Elites can't fit through a Tele Frame, so if you put one over a sender but not the receiver (like on Hemorrhage) then it'll work fine, but for some reason the game thinks they can't and so it won't teleport them if there is a frame around the receiving node.

This makes using 2 way nodes with frames at either end, or even a frame around a receiver node, impossible if you want your map to accommodate Elites. I even tried constructing my own two way nodes using a pair of senders and a pair of receivers interlocked in to one another, but the same problem persists. If there's a frame around the other end of the tele an Elite is trying to go through, it won't work.

Has anyone found a way around this short of constructing my own frame out of Columns or other objects? I'd like to have some sort of frame around my teles for aesthetic and directional focus purposes. If not, can anyone suggest a good structural set up for making a convincing and properly sized tele frame out of other objects?

Play as a Spartan. Make a custom gametype, and use Slayer Pro as the base.

Or, create something larger out of something creative, like a Tunnel, Long turned on its side.

The map I'm creating is based specifically around an Elite starts gametype (to make the player model bigger and use the increased movement attributes amongst other things) so the Spartan idea is out I'm afraid. I'll have a look in to that Tunnel, Long idea though.

I don't want to make it too large though, and tbh the size itself isn't really the problem since putting a frame around a sender node works fine. Like I said, Elites can fit through the frames fine, the game just seems convinced that they can't when deciding whether a tele is blocked or not.

EDIT: Tunnel, Long is waaaayy too massive, I need something much closer in size to a tele frame. I don't mind building it out of smaller objects like Columns, I just wondered if anyone else had solved this problem using tele frames themselves more than anything, and if not what they'd used instead since making things look good isn't really my strong point.

I don't think there's a way around it. But a regular Door might work as a replacement for a Teleporter Frame.

You could also place the tele slightly ahead of the frame. If you get it just right, its not noticeable at all and will work (hopefully.) It may involve some tweaking though.

If you go through sideways I think you can do it

I tried repositioning the frame and you have to move it so far that you might as well not have it imo. Toying with a Tunnel, Short and possibly a Door like you said, Veer, though that leaves a large gulf on either side of the tele itself which I'd prefer to avoid. I was going to extend the teles shape and cover the whole opening with a shield door to give a sort of H1 style look, but for some reason if I extend the shape the teles stop working again, probably something to do with them being pressed in to a corner. Gah, might just have to have uncovered regular two way nodes tbh.

@ seredhras: I'm kinda looking for a more playable solution than that, asking players to walk sideways through the teles everytime they want to use them seems a bit unworkable.

EDIT: OK, shaped teles seem to be working now, CE style full on tele doors he were come!

it is a pain on blood gulch, but it could give a cool effect like climbing on a ledge (which probably doesnt apply)
