I'm beginning to get into animation and I'm going to make a battle between two characters for one of my signatures. Is there a program that makes it easier to do animation than Photoshop CS3? Something free or something easy to use. Either or would be great.

Edit: So no one uses an animation program? With eight views, I know someone could reply with some sort of answer.

    windows > animation

everytime you want to animate something hide or unhide a layer, move a layer, resize, you get it, you have to edit a layer!

then, press tween, and say the amount of layers

be sure to watch it and keep it at NO DELAY, or zero seconds!

    Use flash.

    Flash > Most animation programs

Alright, I just got Adobe CS3 Flash from my friend... anyone want to help me learn it? My video is kind of hard to do seeing how it's a two sprite fighting scene... I know it would take 100's of layers in regular photoshop...

Edit: Fyi, My friend also just bought this so he's as much of a noob at it as I am.

flash....you're asking the wrong person here!

try and go to tutorializded....thats the place for flash....also look for swish or swoosh or something like that...i think its like an addon for flash, that simplifies it!

I make stop motion, and 3d animations. What are you going for? Stickman? You can use pivot for that. Video of pivot's capabilities below. It may be hard to draw your character in it if you want spartans or something, but it's great for beginners. My 10 year old brother uses it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lXA4vT8tFRg&feature=related

Thing is that I don't even know the basics of flash. If I did, then I would look up tutorials. Tutorials wouldn't help me right now, I would need one on one help with flash.

Nope. I'm doing a battle between sprites from a video game. I actually want to turn it into a signature, but Flash is proving to be more difficult than helpful.

If the animation is a looping, not very long animation, you may want to consider making a gif as they are the easiest to make. How long is it? If you are looking for something very complex and long, I'll tell you some other programs that I think you might like.

EDIT: Woops. I didn't see that you decided on an animator. I don't have any knowledge of that one as I usually don't do 2d.

Zander has sweet animations there, I think you should start off with Pivot Juggernaut.
