    Yes.

Although I just probably haven't fooled around with it enough to decide which I want to stick with. Why the heck dont all my widgets pop up on Nova?

    blah.

I assume you mean custom launchers. This is nitpicky, but ALL Android phones have a launcher. There's the pure stock launcher you get on the true vanilla Android you get on Nexus devices, and the various stock ones for each manufacturer version (Samsung = Touchwiz, HTC = Sense, Motorola = MotoBlur etc) and Cyanogen's launcher Trebuchet, plus all the play store ones like Apex, Nova etc.

Which ones crash for you? My somewhat limited experience with the stock Android launcher has been good though obviously it lacks features, Touchwiz crashed a fair amount for me, Apex and Nova have been patchy but got better a while in to the ICS era.

Your widgets and homescreen app shortcuts go away because it's a new launcher, all your homescreens are reset. You can either manually rebuild all your homescreens, or try importing. If you go to the homescreen and press the menu button, then choose Nova settings, then go to the Backup and Import section there should be an option to import your homescreen layout etc. from your old launcher.

Yeah I meant custom launchers. Apex and Nova have both crashed a couple times in my limited use (I'm a heavy go-into-something-home-screen-out-a-whole-bunch) and I've gotten a couple crashes. Go launcher is just bad IMO..looks so cheap.

    Eh.

Was messing around with it more, but it just isn't as flowing as Sense is. I really liked how customizable it is, but the transitioning just wasn't on par with Sense.

Samsung has some of the best cameras in the business. I'd say the best are always between the current Apple Sony and Samsung flagship. You can't go wrong with any of them.
Go ahead and hit "set as default" and choose Nova. If you ever want to go back to the Sense launcher just go to 'Manage Apps' and hit clear defaults on Nova. Next time you hit home in should prompt you for a new default.

And Sense is more than a launcher, simply installing a launcher doesn't remove sense. It's deeply ingrained within the Android system, more than simply the homescreen and the shortcuts. As is Touchwiz, motoblur, Bravia, and any mobile Android variation. But it does bring you closer to the pure Android experience, which is always better. AOSP roms are the way to go.

So i have an upgrade available with verizon, and i already have an iphone 4, so should i get a galaxy s3 or wait for another droid to come out? I like ios but i decided that i'd be better off with an android phone, i like the freedom the system grants you, and the navigation is better

If you plan on doing a decent amount of flashing, I'd wait. The S3 is a decent phone, but it's not crazy good and there looks like there are some upcoming phones on the horizon that could be great. The Exynos processors + sammy's lack of source love gets in the way of a perfect AOSP experience.

Rumor is right now that Google is going to unveil the next Nexus(es) within a month and a launch wouldn't be much long after that. Current rumor going around is there might be multiple (Sony, Sammy, LG, HTC and Moto) so there would be lots of stock android to choose from.

Looking to develop apps for the Android, but I don't have any ideas, nor do I have a droid. Any ideas that you guys have? Is there anything you find missing from the marketplace? I'm just looking to get into this as a hobby as something to do on the side in between Java assignments.

@pinohkio: Me too! I was so sad that android workshop at school was only 1073 and above..though I understand why. As for your question: I feel like unread counts could be done better. SMS unread count is meh and otherwise it's basically only done well in launchers.

@Shanon: I had typed up a response and have no idea where it went lol. Coulda sworn I posted it. Anyway, S3 from a development standpoint is bad. Exynos is a hard processor to develop for and sammy doesn't always release all their source (read: usually doesn't), especially not right away. A lot of big community devs are boycotting it so if you plan on using any custom roms, mods, etc I'd avoid it in place of a Nexus or something else. Otherwise, some people were meh on the design and wished the american version had gotten the quad core.

Just got my Nexus 4 today, and my god is this thing beautiful. Beautiful piece of hardware, buttery smooth and none of the reported hardware issues seem present (backlight bleed, dim screen, earpiece buzz, loose buttons).

If you can get hold of one of these things without paying the extortionate carrier prices, I'd advise you do so. You will not regret it.

Wow, i can post here now as I got my GS3 last month.
I've been fooling around with GoLauncher, but I'm open to any other sleek customization ideas.

For post ICS I personally prefer either Nova or Apex launcher. I've got Nova Prime (paid version) but only because it was on sale. Apex is probably better if comparing free versions but really they're much of a muchness.

How are you liking the GS3 in general?

It's great, and better than usual considering I'm coming from a very old phone. It's also larger than most others, but it hasn't been a problem carrying it around as I thought it might be.
I think I'm still on ICS because I have AT&T, so I'm not sure what to do in terms of launchers, but I figure I'll just wait.
