Guardian was not shared last night as far as I could tell. He must be working on it, or forgot to set it back to visible. There was something called "Guardian Latest" but it appeared to be corrupted or something... wouldn't load.
Does this mean that JoeDannyMan's Guardian 1.0 map that I have bookmarked is no good? Or was there an updated version that was provided to 343i for the Halo 3 playlist that's not publicly available because it's busted -- in some fashion? If the Guardian 1.0 map I have isn't as polished as the one available within the Halo 3 playlist I too hope 343i can debug it, so I can update and play on the more polished version within custom games.
He worked on polishing up the map mainly for framerate reasons. Something must have gone wrong in the file saving process one time, which may have corrupted the file. Sometimes, corrupted files cannot be recovered or fixed. At the very least, JDM should be able to get a fresh copy of the one 343i is using, and build off of that and make new copies for those who have already bookmarked an older version. (heck, 343i even has the power to replace the bookmarked one with the MM one, so everyone automatically gets the new version without extra work on their part) <-- seeing as how the author has put a lot of time into the map, it seems like this is something the devs could do out of good faith and appreciation. @NOKYARD does the "latest" copy we can find in shares able to be opened in Forge? I have some things I could try on my own and see if there isn't some easy fix...
I don't believe the map shows up on waypoint but you can grab it from his files. If the one you grab has no thumbnail and you get the loading screen, then you have the right one.
i was initially able to open "GuardianLatest" in Forge, so I saved a copy. I could load the map inm customs, even though it didn't show any details about the map/gametype just "retreiving info" but then when I went back into Forge to try something else, it would not give the ability to click "start". Weird indeed! EDIT: But I meant to say that "GuardianLatest" does load in customs, so the only real problem is that he might not be able to ever forge it again and it doesn't finish the "retreiving" thing, so people probably think they can't load it.
Yeah, as i said it's been like that for a long time and all the usual tricks to repair it have failed. It's too bad we are no longer able to pull maps from our recent games list. In previous games you could even extract maps from screen shots.
