    Introduction:

    Hi everyone, this is my first map post on Forgehub. I’ve been working on this on and off since last summer, probably putting in 20 or 30 hours between building and planning. (I plan and build slow…) I’m fairly happy with the result, well, at least happy enough to post it here. As said above, this is my first posted map so let me know if anything is wrong and I’ll do my best to fix it. Please at least read the How To Play section or you will be very confused.
    About The Map:

    Air Force One Is Going Down started out with the idea of planning a map similar to Manifest. I really liked the way Manifest implemented movement, as you got better weapons and more ammo as you progressed through the map. I decided to force movement in my map by having a VIP game type with 5 go-to points set up on the map in a linier fashion. The last thing worth mentioning game play-wise is the fact that this is a sort of puzzle infection map. This map is divided into 3 sections with 2 obstacles, with the escape hornet at the end of the third instead of another obstacle. Take the first section, for example. You need to find a way to get through a burning building (*Bubbleshield Cough Cough*), so while you’re killing zombies, always be on the lookout for the “key” to your next obstacle.
    Back story:

    It’s the year 2,023 and you are part of an elite team sent to guard the president while he attends the global emergency conference (GEC) where world leaders have assembled to attempt to find a solution to stop virus strain 157. Four months ago, a Russian biochemist working on a top-secret bioweapon codenamed project red spear dropped a concentrated 1mL vial of the virus. It is unknown if this was on purpose. Within 15 minutes, all 11 scientists in the facility located far underneath Siberia were dead. Russia sent in a specialized team to retrieve the bodies for further investigation, but a horrible scene unfolded early on in the mission. It was all caught on security camera: the 11 dead scientists barreled towards the Russian team, they kept getting dropped by gunfire, but they just kept getting up and resumed their charge. Their mouths foamed and the eyes were swelled. They were surprisingly nimble. The specialized team was almost overrun; if it weren’t for their numbers they would have been dead for sure. On the floor in front of them, 6 of their men and 10 scientists lay dead, with heads severed. They triple checked the body count, where was the last scientist? A week later, several small towns reported strange infections, and then stopped reporting all together. It just kept spreading.
    When the meeting adjourned, there weren’t any new ideas on the table. The President prepared to head back home. The flight went fine up until the plane was flying over North Eastern Siberia. EMP from unauthorized nuclear cleansing of infected regions by Russia rendered the instruments useless, and the pilots lost control of the plane. Your plane is now a ball of debris hurtling to earth. Air Force One crashes in an unknown urban area, at least 750 miles from Moscow. Locals may be hostile.
    Classes:


    In order to better understand what you’ll be playing as, here are the descriptions or the classes in AF1IGD:
    VIP (a.k.a. Mr. President)

    The President is heavier and slower than the rest of his elite-trained bodyguards. However, he is the only one who spawns with a shotgun. Also, always talk to your VIP because he has 25m radar and will be the first one to know where a zombie is. It should also be noted that you LIKE your president. Don’t leave him to die. This president has a 100% approval rating and has done so many good things for the citizens of the United States; I won’t even begin to list them.
    The President also has a radius of influence to encourage sticking together. Here is what it changes:

    The bodyguards are stronger than the President. Sacrifice yourself if necessary to save the VIP.

    Zombie Grunt

    Shields: Normal
    Starting Weapon: Plasma Pistol
    Gravity: 110%
    Movement: 100%
    Damage Modifier: 75% (4 beatdowns for a kill)
    Forced Color: Brown
    Waypoint: Visible To Allies
    Sensors: 25m Radar
    Infinite Ammo: Yes
    Shield Regeneration: 200%
    These guys are the common zombies, the average citizens who were infected. The Plasma Pistol is next to useless because the bodyguards have no shields, thus making the zombies have to run at them and beat them down just like the judgment gametype. Don’t rush them head on, use anything you to get close to the humans without being seen or noticed.

    Zombie Grunt +

    Shields: Normal
    Starting Weapon: Plasma Pistol
    Gravity: 110%
    Movement: 100%
    Damage Modifier: 75% (4 beatdowns for a kill)
    Forced Color: Brown
    Waypoint: Visible To Allies
    Sensors: 25m Radar
    Infinite Ammo: Yes
    Shield Regeneration: 200%
    *
    These guys are physically the same as average citizens, they just happened to have weapons while infected. A grunt + could have: a SMG, a magnum, a spiker, or on rare occasions, an assault rifle.

    Zombie Jumper

    Shields: Normal
    Starting Weapon: Shotgun
    Gravity: 50%
    Movement: 110%
    Damage Modifier: 75%
    Forced Color: Black
    Waypoint: Visible To Allies
    Sensors: 25m Radar
    Infinite Ammo: Yes
    Shield Regeneration: 200%

    These zombies must have been Olympic athletes that were training for Siberia ’24. They outmaneuver bodyguards in both jumping and speed. However, they can’t take quite as much damage. Use rooftops, and don’t let a wall stop you; you can probably get over it. Also, they have shotguns because swords were overpowering ‘cause of the way they lunge; it is a lot harder to jump off a rooftop and hit someone with a shotgun compared to a sword.

    Zombie Stealther

    These are the final special zombies. Somehow or another they have found active camo and prototype lasers. They only have 30 seconds of camo though, so use it wisely. It is common to find these rare zombies on rooftops.

    How To Play:


    Ok, with that done I can now explain how the game itself is played. The teams should be even, first of all. The VIP team spawns in the air with a hornet a.k.a. Air Force One (C’mon people use your imagination, it’s the best I could do!!) falling out of the sky close behind you. From there scavenge what you can find in your safe room, and head out into the city. Make sure you stay close to your VIP (just like a good bodyguard should…) in order to get the 10m radar, which is WAY better than no radar. You need to stay in constant communication, don’t make your VIP go first anywhere to avoid him form being assassinated. Progress through the city to get the go-to points, check rooftops and corners, and keep on the lookout for any weapons or keys. Your eventual goal is to get to the evac zone at the scrap yard.For the zombie team, you use a teleporter system to enter the city. The teleporters are arranged chronologically from LEFT to RIGHT; meaning for your first time spawning, choose the two farthest teleporters to the LEFT. Make sure to use height to your advantage, don’t jump down and charge head-on. Remember that your shields recharge, so at times it’s best to keep your distance and avoid dying. Once you kill someone, they are OUT OF ACTION. They spawn in a waiting room in the skybubble and can only watch the remaining bodyguards and VIP. Don’t just go for the VIP, as every bodyguard you take out will stay out, thus giving the VIP less protection. To get a point for the round, your ultimate goal is to kill the VIP. In order to make recognizing different classes easier, there is a color system:

    Ö White: Bodyguards that aren’t in his proximity
    Ö Brown: Zombie grunt, grunt +, stealther after camo
    Ö Black: Jumpers

    Lastly, I’ll talk about the keys on the map. There are 2, each hidden in the section matching an obstacle. If you don’t know how to pass a section, look for equipment – as both keys are equipment. (*hint hint*) In order to confuse your friends, I give you permission to alter the key locations in anyway you see fit. The key locations are in the spoilers:

    This map looks good from the pictures. I like the classes that you implemented into the map. I don't know how it is gameplay-wise, but i'm sure it will be a blast. Could be a little more aesthically pleasing and better forged, but that's not essential. Has a sort of left for dead feel to it, which i like. I'll download and make sure to give a better review in about a week.

    Wow, your first post? You've obviously been hanging out here for a while. If not, i'm impressed o.0

    Onto the map, damn. The concept is amazing, i especially like how the zombies have classes. The only thing i would have a problem with is the zombie spawn, you could have a 6 year old troller that just roams around the main level not playing the game. I would advise something to force the zombies into the teleporters or down the hole.

    Other than that, I would have to say, great map! 4.5/5.

    Thanks for the feedback guys

    @ vespher, wandering around the middle level of sandbox really isn't a problem. You spawn in three rows facing the teleporters. Really, the biggest problem for the zombies is randomly running and taking the wrong teleporter. Then they get stuck in one part of the map where the bodyguards and VIP arn't and they get bored. However, there is a way to get out of every section as a zombie, it is just most people wouldn't know how. As long as you have a party with no idiots in it and everyone has a general idea of where each tele takes you, you should have a blast.

    This map deserves more attention due to the amount of time that I watched you put into this along with the setbacks in the beggining. However, this map is now majorly improved and you have NO IDEA how much communication is essential in this game. Escorting your VIP, not just following the same path as him, is so important. The strategy in this game is really addicting such as sniping humans from rooftops and those last man VIP moments. Really love this game and I cannot think of any map that I have seen yet that actually mastered this concept as well as you have.

    Great post overall! It was very organized, clean and straight to the point. I find this linear type of gameplay to be awsome fun and i can't wait to play it. I really enjoyed the President's influnce, it's just a great idea in my opinion. Really creative and something that should be featured if even more popular. 5/5 =)

    I have always loved city maps and this one looks very nice. I was making one with a sewer too so yay ;D. I like the huge mansion. it looks very appealing. I DL'd. Gratz. 9/10
