    Aegir

The Old Sea God, Aegir, Has Been Dead For Millenniums But His Prison Is Still A Battlefield 4-12 Players

    Aegir Walkthrough
    Aegir Walkthrough

Aegir is an asymmetrical map that houses a symmetrical one. The interior of the building is very much inspired by Heretic/Midship, but what really makes the map interesting is the outside area that surrounds it. The inside area is broken up in three main levels with a small balcony overlooking the third. Every level of the interior is accessible from the outside including the balcony area. There are gravity lifts on the bottom floor on the interior that leads to the third.

Outside the main feature that makes gameplay interesting is the addition of a ladder. The ladder allows a player to move from the second level to the fourth (Balcony Exterior) This enables a player to gain the height advantage over someone who previously had it over him. It makes battles very interesting and enjoyable,

Aesthetically, There is a large hand in the ocean that holds up a lighthouse. A large chain and shackle grip the hand. You will notice that the chain continues in the interior and runs down the center of the inside. It comes off with some nice God of War like imagery. I also notably used glass sails instead of the normal windows to give it a more unique feel.

Thanks to everyone who downloads and please let me know what you think :)

The map looks amazing plenty of cover. Plays really well. Good balance of weapons. Atlas i got to admit this could be your best one yet. Hope you keep putting out good quality maps.

Sorry, I know the interior pictures aren't the best. The layout is incredibly simple if you look at it downloaded, but I'll do my best quickly. (I'm assuming the interior layout is what you don't understand. The floors wrap around a lot like heretic/midship. You have to run around the interior to get to the top of the map, and it is symmetrical so there are two ways up. You then have gravity lifts on the bottom floor to speed you to the third floor. There is a small balcony above the third floor. The balcony looks over the inside and the outside. It can be accessed by the interior ramps, exterior ramps, or the ladder.

If you download and take a quick look I promise it'll be easy to understand. It is a very straight forward yet effective layout.

I'll also work on getting a flythrough video posted ASAP

I just uploaded a walkthrough for Aegir. I did notice that the two openings on the one side are not seen very well. The other side (With the tables) has two entrances to the main building one to the first floor and the other to a small platform with ramps to quickly access both second and first floors.

This one looks pretty cool, I like how it looks a little like midship but in the end the map feels completely different. Only problem I noticed was the shotgun placement: It is shoved back in a dead end room that feels strange to go for in battle, as you have to run out the way you came in when enemies may be following you. Also, the shotty and sniper are very close. I'd suggest keeping the sniper position but moving the shotgun further away and put it in an open area so that it is not immediately useful (also don't put it near lifts- camping.) Try to make a triangle with the three power weapons, and if all else fails replace it with a Grenade Launcher, map feels open for a shotgun and I worry that it will only be used for camping.

Hopefully I will be posting a new map here soon, it's been a really long time now but I'm almost ready, just need one more test. Map described is in my signiture. Thanks for the feedback on Tuscan too!

The aesthetic fist on this map is simply jaw dropping. The overall layout seems to complement the aesthetics on the map, and looks to provide a solid gameplay experience. Once again, this was a great job and is really impressive. Just keep on forging.

Jeez man, you're kinda becoming me with all of these map posts, haha. Anyways, this looks fantastic, especially the rock arm with the shackle around it, that is such a nice aesthetic touch. I can see a lot of creativity and thought went into the making of this map and I'm sure gameplay would be great. I love the ladder, but is it the pics, or is it really long? Anyways, I'll have a looksee for myself. Good stuff man.

Love the aesthetic. I'll check it out this evening.

Btw, how'd you do the ladder? The way I do it is with one-way shields, but with that many wrungs I doubt that's what you did.

Wow this has some amazingly aesthetics going on. I made the same chain messing around, and it gives a great effect. The hand looks amazing, and I like the layout, looking forward to taking a closer look. great work!

looks really fun, love the lighthouse, my only problem is the weapon placement, the shotgun and the sniper rifle are to close together.

Ok, a lot of people to respond to so I apologize in advance for length of this post!

The shotgun was placed at the bottom as a way to break up any domination that a team could have on the upper floors. It provides good cover to recharge before moving to the second floor (Sight lines broken up on the one side by steep ramps) and move to the ladder or inside the building. The sniper was placed to give equal opportunity to both teams respawns of acquiring the sniper. It was also placed there as a matter of convenience with the ladder nearby. I understand the concerns but personal game play experiences dictated the changes. If you have other experiences or wish for other weapons I would just replace the weapons that are there. I for one only like one ordnance weapon on a map if possible.

Thanks guys! Even though this map pulled back on the aesthetics compared to Rhem I really like how the windows and chains worked out they really gave the map a good personality!

I also used one way shields but added extra rungs using capture plates to add a nice aesthetic touch.

    Thanks for the comments!

Thanks! The hand was one of those happy mistakes that came together correctly on the first attempt. The chains came later and really pointed to a new direction with the aesthetics. I really love the layout of this one and I'm glad that the aesthetics came together to compliment it :)
