Map Title: Adytum This sanctuary was once a place of quiet solitude. Now it is a place for sacrifice. 4-8 players Download Map Description: Hello Forgehub! I hope everything is okay with this thread. It's my first one, so please let me know if I have overlooked something. As you may have guessed from the name and the short description, this map is cribbed from the Halo 2 favorite Sanctuary. I wouldn't necessarily call Adytum a remake. The overall layout it similar, but the map has been adapted to the smaller square geometry of the Crypt. It has a unique feel, similar to that of Sanctuary, but different in many ways. Anyway, I hope you give it a chance! Weapons: Battle Rifle x 6 Shotgun x 2 Sniper Rifle x 2 Needler x 2 Brute Shot x 2 Energy Sword x 1 Covenant Carbine x 2 Mauler x 2 Machine Gun Turret x 2 Equipment: Frag Grenade x 4 Plasma Grenade x 6 Spike Grenade x 4 Bubble Shield x 1 Power Drain x 1 Regenerator x 1 Overshields x 1 Active Camo x 1 Vehicles: none Overall, the weapon placement on Adytum is very similar to that of Sanctuary. New additions include Maulers in two of the crypt's corners, Brute Shots at top mid and Needlers at the ramp bases. Here is a direct overhead shot: Some features of Adytum are direct translations from the original. Alhough the roof is not there, the ground layout on the ramp bases is almost identical to Sanctuary: and on the red side: As you can see, the sniper spawn bases are much more prominent in Adytum than in the original. They also contain overshield (red side) and active camo (blue side). The view from side to side is very reminiscent of Sanctuary, with the obvious exception of the shooting gallery at top mid: Probably the biggest departure from the original is the central structure. It is no longer round. The ground floor now has two secondary entrances in addition to the large primary ones. The ramp structure from bottom to top is quite familiar: The top level has a close-quarters feel, rather than the merry-go-round of the original map. The entrances to top level are similar, but the jump-ups to top level have moved to the left of the main entrances. Also the old incoming/outgoing sight-lines have been changed a lot: In this picture you can also see a secondary entrance to bottom mid at the right of the main entrance. Well that's pretty much it. There are more details to see, but I recommend you download the map and give it a try. Here's an action shot, just to maybe give some scale perspective. I would really apreciate any comments you guys have. Nothing is off limits. Tell me what you think of the design, forging execution, weapon/spawn/equipment placement, whatever criticism you might wish to share. P.S. Due to budget and OLN issues, this map only supports Slayer. I have other versions of Adytum which support the other gametypes such as CTF, Assault and KotH. I'd be happy to put them in my fileshare if anyone asks me to.
This map is brillant. I love how you gave it your own feel to it. And I can hardly believe this is your first Map. Congrats 10/10 I'm making room for this on my harddrive
This is cool! I would never be able to narrow a Sancuary feel into a map. I think I will try to, say, forge something similar. This is somewhat inspirational in that you designed the map well, geomerged something, and made this all into your first post. Congrads, a solid 9/10 and a download from me in 7 days
really good looking, but you should have posted in competitive maps, i was looking for infection and i saw this, so i wasnt looking to download anything of this nature. ill dl when i get back because then i can empty my que and dl some other stuff.
