literally in the works I was literally in the middle of collecting data to post a topic exactly like this but now i don't have to thanx Devinish
I smell burning brain cells.... Anyway, thanks for sharing the knowledge! That all seems to make sense.
This has helped me understand it alot better, I already had a genral idea, but this pinned it down. tanks.
If there are no Spawn Areas, then the map will just act like one big one. It'll try to spawn you as far away from an enemy as possible.
How do starting points work? Do they spawn one player at the beginning at that exact point, and because of the weighting, all the players on that team start near him? :S
Wow try reading and comprehending this after 2 hours of sleep lol i had to get some rest before i attempted understanding this. I think i always understood the basic concept now i have a much better grasp of the spawn system in halo 3 so thnks for this very informative post.
Ok, i'll try to answer as many questions as I can here: This is how the game attempts to spawn you in order. You will notice that when you use spawn order, the gome doesn't EXACTLY respawn the players in that order. More of a guideline, and less of a rule. Well, it IS possible for the game to spawn players of the RED team in spawn points designated by the BLUE team. So my guess is that it puts a really HUGE weight, like -4000 (just a guess) for the opposite team, but if there are also huge negative weights everywhere else on the map, it has no choice but to spawn players in the opposite team's areas. Correct, enemies, friendlies, deaths in the area all affect the weight of the included spawns. About a day and a half. All material was made from scratch. Then you are setting your map up for failure. In addition to: I'm assuming you have just placed one starting point for each team. But this is a really good question. The weight of the respawn points is not determined until right before the player spawns. So if everyone spawned at the same time, then it would not necessarily be the case that all players spawn near him. So it is best to place starting points for all the players. However, due to the nature of the game, the HOST spawns first, and this spawn will affect the rest of the points on the map. I hope this clears some stuff up.
holy crap, i would have never been able to figure all that out on my own. but i had fun figuring out the problems, i love solving puzzles like that. i dont know why bungie cant just explain this stuff to us though. and good job figurin all the stuff out. now i can use this on the map im workin on.
Thanks Wow Thanks for the help( I think...). I'll try to think of this the next time i get spawn killed
