Well, I have been messing around with this for a while, and it is pretty nifty. I like to call it "Teleporter Phasing". Read on if you want to. So it started a while ago while I was making a movie set on Rat's Nest with my friend. We were messing around, and for some reason, I brought up what my other friend had told me. My other firend (Not the one making the map with me) had said he thought you could phase a teleporter through a roof into a glitched area. I put one down, and it didn't go through for me. My friend who was helping me make the map had tried it, and it went right through for him. I was astonished, and I wanted to know how he did it. So he told me what he did, and I tried it. No luck at all. I tried to show it to a friend. Still no luck. I ask him again to show someone, and it worked for him yet again. I then began to wonder what was going on. It just so happened to be that the person who was making the map with me invited me into a game. I joined, and someone asked how we got teleporters into those rooms. Since the person who was helping me was busy, I figured I would show them. And this time it worked. I didn't understand it at first; why would it let my friend do it, but not me until this point? I looked at the circumstances and concluded that it dealt with something very simple. Now that you have read my story, here is how to perform this trick. Start up a game on which ever map you want to perform the glitch on. Have a second person in your party (Invite someone in if needed). Go to the area that you want the teleporter to phase through. Promote the other person to leader. Spawn which ever type of teleporter you want to go through Now it breaks down into a few different ways to get it to phase. Follow the instructions under which direction you want it to phase. If phasing UPWARD Grab the teleporter Hold it right next to the ceiling Get as close to the top part of the teleporter as you can Continuously pick the teleporter up and down After doing this a few times, the teleporter will "phase" thorough the level's geometry If phasing DOWNWARD Set the teleporter down where you want it to go through Pick the teleporter up and down constantly After doing this a few times, the teleporter will fall through the level's geometry Below: Phasing through ceiling Below: Phasing through floor I definately hope this trick could open some doors and windows to new ideas. There are lots of hidden areas on maps that we can access with things like this, so who knows what could be made from this. Have fun with it, and happ Forging!
It's cool to find out stuff like this on your own, isn't it? Nice job figuring it out. Plus, it says a bit about your character that you'd want to share your find with the community. You should try it out on the fenced in hallway rooms of Foundry next time you get the chance and add it into a map of yours.
As squid said, congrats on finding it on your own. Your post was very informative and laid out well. I +repped you for it. Still, old news for the regulars here.
Nice. I, too think that it is a good, neat guide. True, this is known, but this is the simpilist guide I have seen about it, so good job!
This is a great idea.It will be very helpful for glitching out of maps and it should in the forging 101
Thankies Shock. =) And that would be correct, MNM, the party leader cannot "teletap". However, if you are the connection host but aren't party leader, you will be able to phase objects.
The host can't phase. To see if you're the host, go into forge mode and look down. Then get out of forge mode. If you're still looking at the ground that means you're the host. If you're looking straight ahead of you, you're just a player. It has nothing to do with the party leader, the host is chosen by which person has the best connection.
That's very odd... My friend who was making the map with me was the connection host. I was the party leader, and it let me phase objects. Once I figured it out, it let me phase through with him as party leader. Also, as a side note, he is *always* the connection host. Not sure what is up with this, but I figured I would point this out. EDIT: After trying this with my friend, I have figured out that anyone besides the connection host can phase. I apologize for going against you there.
