"hey, i wonder if anybody still uses forgehub" see this thread. soo what's everyone doing with their lives?
Oh my gosh, I didn't think this site would still be alive. Too bad I don't play Halo anymore :/ Good times are remembered.
Woah, I remember most of the names posting in here. I started in February of 08. Noobing up the forums & spamming higher up members for forge tips. Now I'm 27, married & I got 2 kids. Maybe I am a little too old to be here...
I have you beat by over a decade, lol. When my grandfather was 94, he said to me 'I don't know what happened to my body. In my head I'm still 18'. We should never lose our inquisitiveness or playfulness, regardless of what form it takes.
Feel like i'm back at a highschool reunion and everyone's having a good time describing how well they've aged. Nothing wrong with that though, at least everyone is alive and doing well!
I'm thinking it more as "We're still around here and there, just there isn't much going on anymore". Still I know I've personally popped on here and there to check on how things are but again there really wasn't anything of interest or people to chat with at the time.
I used to come here a while back also. Looking at my profile I only had 60 or so posts. This place can be a little intimidating for the hobby forger like me when compared to some of the master forgers here. I pretty much stopped forging with Halo Reach I think...had a great time creating maps and doing some custom tournaments on the maps created by some users at other sites I went to back in the day. In the six years + years since I registered I met my wife, got married, bought a house and had a kid. I get to play a lot less video games since we started living together. I started a thread at a couple of web sites recruiting people to play customs @9:30pm EST. I did it partially because the matchmaking is a mess but also because I always remember the days of Halo 2 when I used to game with a clan every night and it was a lot better than going into Matchmaking with complete strangers. If you want in...shoot me a FR and message on Xbox.com Hoping to finish up my first forge map and get it into playable form for next Tuesday's custom night.
Woah, and here I'm 27, unmarried, no real relationships (does 2 months count?), and wrapping up grad school. I feel like everyone my age is either married, getting married, or have kids. Crazy. :O
Idk schnitz, that might be the way to do it. Sometimes I wish I would have waited but I wouldn't give my family up for nothing. I didn't go to college & that's ok now because the oilfield is booming here & I make some pretty good money atm, but if it crashes that could change. Price of oil keeps dropping & people are already worried. Granted, by the end of the year I'll have made about $85,000 without college, I feel like that's decent money but I could be screwed without college if the oilfield does crash.
Good lord, all these names. Its been like a billion years. My frackin' avatar is the stupidest thing ever. Whats everybody been up to, other than the apparent sex/adoption/virgin childbirth?
Yeah, the "Oh it's cool to be a a guy in your teens & twentys & be obsessed with my little pony" era. I never quite understood it.
My god... going through all the names on here that I recognize and I get all giddy just thinking about it. I never was a popular member of the board, but I certainly spent a lot of time lurking and wishing I was. Well, I certainly hate my avatar, but hi everyone!
One of my finance professors used to be pretty high up at the World Bank and an adviser to OPEC (was invited as a special guest to the recent summit in Vienna) says he expects oil prices to continue falling all the way down to the $40-50 a barrel range and not to recover for the next two years. Consumption is down and OPEC nations are stuck at over production capacity. They could have fixed it by voting to lower production quotas at the summit, but Saudi Arabia voted against that. The big conspiracy is that Saudi Arabia and the US are in cahoots to keep the prices down to hurt the economies of Russia, Venezuela, Iran, and Nigeria as they all base their fiscal policies off of high oil prices (around $110 a barrel). Crashing the oil price directly crashes their government's fiscal policies, and indirectly their economies. Yeah, finance major... I love this ****. Gonna be heart broken when I'm done with this term as all I've got left is my Masters Thesis.
I've actually heard that too, but idk anything about that, lol. I've been at this job 5 yrs now & I'm 3rd in command over about 60 people. Mainly what will happen is the oil companies will freak out & stack all their rigs & stop drilling. Luckily our work is production based so they still need us to maintain all of the existing wells. If it gets too slow we'll start letting people go & me & the 2nd in command will have to get our hands dirty again & get back out in the field. Long story short, worse comes to worse I'll get a pay cut but still be working. What's sad is that the boom was so big here in west Texas that soooo many people moved here. The midland/Odessa area went from 200,000 ppl to at least 350,000 in a couple years. The outskirts of the cities are just covered in man camps & rv parks. Companies were buying out leases at entire apartment complexes to put their employees up, (at a higher price forcing existing tenants out). So many new hotels & appt complexes were built & if the boom does crash it's gonna be crazy. Everyone will go back home & it'll be empty here because the greedy bastards aren't going to lower cost of living but they sure raised it when oil boomed. I got lucky to buy my house in 2008, it costed $80,000 then but I'd have to pay $150,000 today on the same house. Gonna be crazy to watch this play out. /random speech for forging site, lol.
