What makes you think a judge is planning on doing so? I think it's quite obvious that they can't participate. Sky and Broc are currently judges and I believe there is a 3rd who I can't remember right now. I'll find out and post all the judges' usernames in the OP.
I have to say that this contest idea intrigues me much more than the 2x2 bank ever did. This is the contest that my style of forging is better suited for, and I think there could be quiet a few good maps come from this. My main question for this, is how will it be judged? game play, aesthetic appeal, something else, maybe 2 categories, or a combination of all factors?
Email it to me, I'll be handling the prize distribution. I'll PM you my email address. @Duck NG: Judging criteria and information is located in the OP. I've made it a little more specific for anyone who may have still been uncertain.
I WISH! I actually thought that too, at first. Although it would probably prove to be a good incentive....
Haha, you should still participate. I think this is going to turn up some awesome maps and surprise people with what they can do on a half budget. There's a $10 steam game of your choice if you win, but I can't swing $5,000, sorry
So I actually started making a map last weekend, although with all the exams I had I had no time during the week to work on it. I worked on it tonight and realised that it fits within the guidelines. Ill finish it and test it within the next 2 weeks and then BAM theres my submission.
I find it hilarious, the circumstances that brought this contest to life. Who knew the 2x2 concept would re-spark community interest in contests. Anyways, I'm interested to see the maps that get produced.
C'mon Rho, you know you want to submit a map Submissions probably won't be due until sometime between late July and mid August depending on when the winner of the 2x2 Contest is announced. Your maps are always solid and would be a great addition. Think about it.
Yes!!! This is a great idea! More people should have this mind set when building maps. It teaches a forger to be more efficient with their object use, which I feel is very important as it helps significantly with frame rate in split screen. Usually after an initial build, you can go back and find cheaper ways to build an object or area. Using Colosseum walls are a great way to reduce object count and save money for more important pieces of the map.
Draw the Line..will you be participating? We could really use all the entrants we can get and I know Precipice was under this budget, so you've got experience doing this type of thing. If we can get a few well-known forgers in on this, the topic may be able to get a sticky and really take off as well as inspire other people to get in on it. Also, I've made an important announcement regarding the contest in the OP. I ask that everyone reads it and provides some feedback.
I may participate, it depends on how quickly I can produce my next map. I can always help judge though if you need me to as well.
That would be awesome. I wanted to have 3 judges and currently have only two (♥Sky and BroccolliPie). I'm delaying the contest a bit so that there is more time for people to get over the last one and consider their participation in this one, so if it turns out that you are able to make a map, that would be great as well.
Awesome dude! I'd really appreciate that. It'll definitely give this contest a more official feel. Did you make your Data Hive banner? It's pretty dope.
Yep I made that data hive banner. Um, just a note, I should have the banner finished by tomorrow. It's just there's all this stuff going on at my house so I've been roped in to help out.
Ive hit a bit of a Forging wall in the last week or so, so Ive taken a break from it and hired Fable 3. I know, I know, boooooo. But Ive got one week of my allocated leave from work left, so I plan to start making my map for this then, as when I go back to work I wont have that much time to play map maker. Theres really no point in me submitting a map for this though, as I dont have a Steam account because I dont play PC games, and I already have the Banshee avatar prop. I will, however, participate for the challenge and to better hone my forging skeelz. And who knows, if I do manage to snag a prize (very doubtful) a charitable mood may strike and I could donate it to another more needy participant.
Thanks for your participation, even when the prizes aren't up your alley. The success of this depends on people like you. Even if you don't have a gaming PC though, there are tons of games on Steam that don't require a high-end system. Games like Audiosurf or Plants vs Zombies might interest you.
