Ok, so it seems like there are not many people interested in participating in this contest due to the time hack. FFA is my specialty and most here know the quality of work I do (not saying I'm good, I'm just saying you know my skill level and style.)

So I really wanted to submit a FFA map but had nothing planned out before this and been thinking about it a lot but I still know a solid map worth standing a chance just ain't going to happen on my own in around 5 days time.

I was recently online talking to behemoth and taking a look at his epic urban maps and we got to talking about his concepts. He stated they just started throwing objects around and eventually had a concept already laid out in forge. So I took him up on this idea and played around on forge and see what I could come up with. I wanted to do a map inspired by Turf and Lockout (2 epic maps that work great for FFA).

In the pics below you can see my concept here and it is just a "quick-sketch" of a concept. Those will be actual buildings inspired by lockout.

So to get to my main point, is there anyone here interesting in halting anything they are working on and co-forge this bad boy with me? I'm looking for 1-2 co-forgers here. Yeah, the time table is still crazy stupid, but it's better than not giving it a shot here. I have never co-forged anything before so this will be a first for me. I'm not set in my ways on the decision making process and layout, more heads are better than one.

Here's the basic concept I got.

Well the Halo servers are acting up for me right now but will throw this into my fileshare ASAP. When I do you can take a look at it and start doing w/e you want to it to edit the basic layout then if you want to continue on with this project, we can write down a plan of attack on production.

Ok well I don't think it's going to let me upload it anytime soon so I have my xbox chilling in forge right now and will for some time. If you want to grab it just join my active forge then it will be in your recent maps.

Looks like a good layout, but you might have some troubles trying to run through those doors that are'nt there, LOL

all right heres what i can see... towards the cave a monorail system, big central building as a mall of sorts, building near the cliff as a "customs office" your idea with the waterfalls leave the idea as it is just pretty it up, building near the forerunner base as a apartment, right of the waterfalls as a cafe of sorts, bridge on the left would work well as a "launching post" and pretty up everything else as roads and a city scape to make it flow.

Sounds good, but I'm more focused on gameplay here with geometry inside each building and how it will enhance gameplay. I'm all for the aesthetics but we need to bang out the geometry first.

First we need to agree upon a layout, if there's anything else you want to change to the layout feel free. I have no problem with making each building as the theme you have placed for them and we have to consider this as we make the skeleton of the map. But I want to make the geometry clean and minimum use objects of low budget items as possibly of course.

I think tag teaming will work best rather than both of us hitting it at the same time. I think people get to distracted when you're not working alone, atleast I do. Sooo... edit the basic layout however you want, then I'll take it and fine tune the geometry a little with some stuff I had in mind (considering your theme) and then back off to you and so on.

    [1.] General Layout first
    [2.] Building floor plans
[3.] Clean up all geometry by using better objects with theme in mind
[4.] Start adding aesthetic touch to the geometry to better support theme
    [5.] Small Aesthetic City Details

Edit: sorry for the shitty grammar, I cleaned it up.

I don't mind at all and will be posting updates here as well to maybe attract another co-forger.

    I like that pic :)

I'll warn you, be super careful with the pieces you use.. I know of an attempt to make a map for this contest that had split-screen lag... at 2100 budget. Yeah.

EDIT: Now's your chance. CCs are getting desperate for maps, especially since they need ten submissions to CA.

I took a look at the basic layout of this map you guys are working on and it really is beautiful, it looks much better than the screenshots in the OP. You should finish it regardless and I absolutely love what was done to the waterfalls. Excellent use of the white lights as well. The pathways underneath and everything look great and so do the structures. I know it's just a basic layout foundation or whatever right now but all it really needs is some cover around like rocks, and pieces swapped for aesthetics.

Have you seen the latest? It is in my fileshare. There is now a train/subway station in the middle. We're stuck right now as what to fill in the remaining play area with. I will post screens tmrw of the latest. We will finish it but I don't think it will be worth submitting Friday for the contest as Testing hasn't even begun yet.

Yeah that's the one I saw. I didn't realize it was a train/subway station (I only ran through really quick before) but it does look just like one now that I check again, so you nailed. Are you going to put a moving train on the tracks? I'm sure you guys will come up with something for the remaining middle play area. Love it so far though.
