Hey everyone! Just wanted to start by saying thank you so much for all the support we've seen lately on the game nights and other projects recently! I've seen a few requests lately and in the past for another MCC Forge Tournament, so I am going to be hosting this one for $250. This will seem a little out of touch more than likely given the game it will be for but I hope you all enjoy the challenge never the less so we can give this old relic some love with as close as we can get to H5 Forge in MCC!

So without further ado let's jump right into the nitty-gritty of all of this

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Silence fills the empty grave

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This forge contest is going to be completely sponsored by me, meaning it has no affiliation with ForgeHub or any other outsourcer. With that being said this will be a contest judged by myself and 2 other judges that will be announced on the results page of the contest (To keep things hidden and to make it so friends of the judges can't forge to that judge's tastes)

Alright, let's rip this bandaid off quickly, this Forge Contest will be for the Salvation game mode in Halo 4, this game mode was built by Abandoned Cashew in Halo 4 all the way back in 2013 and is primarily for linear infection; however, this contest will be open to Free-Roam map interpretations as long as the mode is still being used.

There are 6 example maps that I have created to allow some people to get an idea of how the game mode works and how the scripts work, (note that there are still more scripts that can be used that I did not use in these examples and you can see on the Google Doc for the game mode that Cashew created back in 2013) these maps can be found within my MCC Fileshare and will have (Final Stand) or (Salvation) in their description.

    Rules

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    1. For this contest, you must use the "-Salvation-" or "Final Mission" modes that are in my file share

    2. You are allowed 2 changes to the mode, this can be player traits (If Final Mission is the game mode though jumping can not be changed), Objective roles/rules, and anything else within the mode, those changes MUST be posted with your submission

    3. Any map can be forged on or used during this contest as long as it's in the base MCC Halo 4 game

    4. All maps are due by 9pm EST on September 2nd, any maps posted after 9pm EST on September 2nd,2022 will be disqualified, results for the contest will be posted on the 21st of September 2022, if Forge for Infinite releases earlier than the 21st then this process may be pushed back to October 20th

    5. Free-Roam maps are allowed but will be judged based off how the "-Salvation-" and "Final Mission" game modes are used to enhance the current map

    6. Each user is allowed to post 2 maps to this contest but only 1 will be eligible for prizes

    7. Due to the prize pool being funded entirely by myself this rule is just so if only 1 person submits a map, a minimum of 5 people are required for this tournament to be continued, if less than 6 people submit maps I will pay out $20 to each person who submitted.

    8. All prizes will be distributed through PayPal so please make sure you have an account (this includes the $20 payout for less than 5 forgers)

    Judging & Prizing

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Judging will be held starting on the first Saturday game night with MCC after the contest ends, this will not be only the contest maps but some will be played during the game night, and others will be played throughout the month too at separate points.

    Judging categories:

Map design: This can be attributed to both the general layout and the fun factor of encounters throughout the map, be sure to focus on this as this will be one of the highest areas of judging

Art: Due to the nature of old forges this category will only be 1 or 2 points based on aesthetics added to the map and how the map looks overall. with the Thorage update for MCC, a lot of pieces were added so be sure not to neglect this category as those 1 or 2 points may make or break your cut for the final results

Fun Factor: This is separate from "Encounter fun factor" as you have to balance 2 completely different experiences: Flood and Humans. This will be the highest area of judging for the reason of Fun on both sides

Unique Style: This section will be similar to the Art category where it will be given 1-3 points, based on unique styles applied to different aspects of the map, for example, if you find a way through the scripts or otherwise to make the flood starting room not just teleporters then you will get points in this category, alongside any unique style you throw onto the map or general game type experiences to make you stand out from the crowd.

Ending: This will be a simple scoring area, all this section is, is how good your ending to the map is, doesn't matter whether it's complex or simple, just how well designed and fun it is to play. (For free roam maps this category will be applied to Last Squad/Last man standing experiences)

    Prizing:

    1st Place: $150
    2nd place: $75
    3rd Place: $25

    Final thoughts

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This contest is meant to be a love letter to the Forge Community and a challenge to it as well, most people dislike Halo 4, but with this game mode, I'm hoping that we can appreciate a part of it, as the modded game modes within Halo 4's past were a great experience overall that we can't even replicate in Halo 5. With this contest, I'm hoping that most of the MCC crowd that has been asking for a contest will be excited to try this out and challenge themselves as this has been a difficult thing to set up over the past few months and fund myself. With enough traction I'm planning on possibly expanding the prize pool, if that happens though the time for judging will be expanded too as the expansion to the prize pool will require the same amount of people to submit as there is on average in a normal ForgeHub Tournament (Once again this tournament has nothing to do with ForgeHub it is sponsored and made entirely by myself)

Thank you everyone for coming out and looking at my first self-organized contest and I hope you all enjoy going to this throwback of a game/ game type.

    Wishing you all luck
    -Crush
