I'll start off by saying that this is my first map-ish creation, and its very simple. So yeah. I did this in a VERY short period of time, so it's fairly basic, but it works. Oh, and I wasn't sure where to put this, but its mini, and its used for games, so I guess it qualifies. Description: A small map, the 1v1 arena is designed for specific types of duels. Perfect for proving your awesomeness with a sword, you can also challenge a friend to duels of other sorts. Snipers for point-blank no-scopes and Magnums are other possibilities. Inside the fences, you can't run, or hide. Warthogs are parked outside the ring, and a floating sky-box hovers above, giving it's occupants a perfect view of the action. History: The Arena is fenced-in, boxing-ring style. Designed for illegal fights, the Arena is housed in an abandoned warehouse, in the Shipping District. Frequented by all sorts of Clientèle, the Arena has been home to some of the most vicious and deadly fights on the planet. The Lack of a Gametype: If you seriously need a freaking gametype for 1v1, thats bad. I need room on my file-share, and its fairly simple. Also, it would require multiple gametypes, as there are too many options. Set up as many rounds as you want, probably at least 10, and set the rounds to end at 1 kill each. Otherwise, people will spawn-camp like crazy. Unless you trust them. Set weapons to whatever you want, but AR's in there is a bit cramped. It would suck. No grenades. I recommend swords, but trying to no-scope with a sniper could be fun (I recommend turning health or shields up so body shots don't kill in only two hits). Magnums could be interesting as well. And don't change gravity, because getting outside the map is pointless. Turning up the speed some can be fun. And turning on at least 2x shields for swords makes it more of a challenge to get a kill, because you'd have to land blows multiple times, but if you and your foe are good enough, that won't matter. Oh, and its been pointed out to me that escapism is a potential problem, so I recommend turning gravity up to at least 200%. Screenshots: Sorry for so few, but I've nearly got 50 taken, and I need more room. The Arena (pre-roof) Roof From Inside Warthogs Parked The Skybox Download 1v1 Arena Sorry I don't have a topic for it, but I'm being given a message saying "Access Denied". I think Bungie Hates me. Download if you like, its just there if you want a duel of sorts. My next map will be a larger map, designed for 1v1 or 2v2 with normal weapons, equipment, etc. Plenty of cover and varied weapons will also be used.
yeah.. screenshots need better imbedding. try saving them to your computer, uploading them to photobucket, and posting the
Ok, I'll try that. IMG codes alone didn't work, but I'll do that soon as possible. Thanks. EDIT: They're added.
Well, the walls should be a little higher on the outside, especially if your using swords as you weapon. Sometimes you can get higher than a wall.
v2 with higher walls would be nice it is a good idea to have this if you and your friend are beefing over who is better at what 3/5
i don't really get this.....all it is is a box. i could make it in 5min probably. i am sorry, but this is very un-creative
It looks small, but nice and smooth as well. I'm guessing the cars and skybox are just for aesthetics?
i dont want to spam but what they siad above also when a spectator is in the sky boz he cna shoot through the fencewall try to put in a shield door
too simple. all you did is place some walls and fences. make something creative, make it an actuall map, not a small open area
Dude, that's the point. If you want to play 1v1 on freaking Standoff, go for it. I simply noticed that the smallest map you can really do that effectively is Guardian, or an Empty foundry, which is boring. Yes. There are no spawn points in the skybox, that's why I said 1v1. And a shield door would just let you escape. But no one spawns there. You can have up to 4 people spawn in the arena, but that would be WAY too hectic in such a small area. As to the grenades, simply don't spawn with them. That much takes ten seconds to adjust. Yes, it could take 5 minutes, but it'd look sloppy as hell. If you take the time to actually make things straight, it takes longer. Still didn't take that much time. Yes, a roof or higher wall would be better, but a simple fix, til I get around to adding that, is simply ramp the gravity up. The entire purpose is a contained map for 1v1 sword battles, as most Halo maps are not designed for that purpose. They're all too big. So I thought, hey, just make a fenced in area, and you've got a boxing-ring style arena for sword battles, or fun stuff like trying to no-scope from point blank. I mean, I joined a head-to-head playlist match, and got oddball on freaking Blackout. Blackout, and therefore, most maps, are simply too large to play a fun 1v1 battle on. So that's what I'm doing now. I'm making a second, larger map better suited to 1v1 with normal weapons, or for 2v2. Also simple, just more contained than a regular map. 2v2 matches on such map would be far more intense and require more teamwork than even the smallest maps, like Guardian. There. My rebuttal.
Really sorry about the double post here, but its better than making a separate topic for a V2. And it's here. One of the spots took FOREVER though. Not perfect, but it works. Oh, and thanks.
Jumping is one of the key things with swords. That's like having a battle rifle without a nade to down his sheilds with, and it doesn't necessarily help to then have a roof though, because you hit your head on it. It'd be okay to have a roof if the arena was 2 boxes high.
