I can't remember the resource editor I used, I haven't made a theme for like over a year... I prefer to download them, much faster and easier... LOL

For the uxTheme look for something like 'Vista uxtheme patcher'
You'll probably find it will have three files in it. Which is the three files you need to patch.

Yes, get the resource editor so yo uknow the files sizes and yo ucan see the defaults compared to your own. So it doesn't look retarded...
Save the files in PNG format, that way you can make them transparent. Not all resource editors read PNG formats I've heard.

Yes but you still need a resource editor so you can read the mui files, the files windows reads for the themes.

Just replace the one in System32, you will need to replace a system file in vista and that can be a ***** to do so here's a good place that tells you how to do it; How to Delete a System File in Windows Vista :: the How-To Geek

Also if you're wanting to make your own theme you will need a resource editor, google, and basically just open the default theme and replace the images with your own. I've heard SkinStudio6 is good, but I've not used it before.

Well firstly you will need a cracked uxTheme.dll
Which I can't link you to... Google it...
Then you could just go to deviantArt, they have so many damn Vista themes it's not funny, or search Google...

yea its looking really sweet. If your going for simple, just leave it as it is. Mabye a border and text. But if your going for epic, try c4ds

i actually find using stocks easier, just put the stock in, if there are any spaces left, colour in the background with a colour from the stock. Then merge the two layers and smudge the edge of the stock area. Add c4ds and stuff and your done.
