Forge, of the Halo 3 variety.
-------------------------------------------------
As far as maps go, I strictly Forge Infection/Flood style ones (maybe a mini game if an idea pops up and I can think of ways to pull it off) as I love that you have virtually unlimited options in terms of where you want to go, without running into similarity issues like a lot of competitive maps tend to do.
One map that I made when I was 13 (now 21) that became a H3 classic was my "**** Zombies" map. The one with the glowing orange arrow pointing to the "Help" room, the dumpster doors that opened upon impact with your spartan/elite, and the mystery box that was cool before scripting became a thing...
Many people believe I didn't create that map, and it was often stolen (because Halo 3...), so I recovered this ForgeHub account for the sole reason (and the "Join date" looks sexy...) to prove that I indeed did make it, as I made a trailer for the map back in 2009, complete with my old gamertag (Faulkner18) featured in the video.
If you want to see actual gameplay of that map, click here.
I had over 10,000 customs played in H3 back in 2009, and that number would be ginormous if Halo 3's player base didn't begin to die down. H3's Forge may not have had the best tools as it was Bungie's first take on the mode (as it wasn't created to make entire new map layouts, but instead was made just to move weapons, equipment and spawns around the already prexisting map), but the object palette was, by far, my favourite (still is today - and I don't see 343 changing that anytime in the future...) everything just meshed together so, damn, well
When Halo: Reach came out, I made one (very bad, and very broken) map that I wish to not speak of. I played a lot of customs there as well.
Halo 4... God dammit. Forged a lot of maps there and used to host lobbies all the time. Many disliked Halo 4's Forge, and it definitely wasn't my favourite (at all), but some cool maps came out of it thanks to new tools 343i introduced (and the ones they expanded on from Reach) and the new dynamic lighting feature - Some nice infections maps came out of it. Specifically dark and spooky ones... Only if the lighting worked on players... *has flashbacks*
H2:A's Forge is great. But I think of it as a sample when compared to what I think H5 will have in store for us.
Until then!
(EDIT: Halo 5's launch was a mess, the game is still littered with bugs and lacks quality fans expect from a Halo game (Thanks Bungie), and we're almost at the end of it's life cycle (July 29th, 2017).Interact
