I think he was trying to advocate for people not making such sterile boxy maps. That's something I've tried to inject into some conversations too, with little effect.

I say, do what you want to do and if you think someone else has a useful criticism, use it. If not, keep doing what you're doing. Everyone should do this, not just ARC. If someone thinks that a very sterile, boxy map is what they wanted to make, then no one should tell them otherwise.

Each forger has their own style, and that is what makes it worthwhile to see what others are creating. that's what makes us different and spices up life!

As for aesthetics just being there to spice up the map, go ahead, as long as it fits with the rest of the map. Hopefully I (somewhat) answered your question. I thought it had been answered in the thread itself, but if it was lost in the arguments then here it is.
