The applilcation is called Wine. It allows other operating systems to run Windows applications without having the Windows software installed.

So have you decided if it is to be completely ahistorical or not? The whole sengoku period is rich with history and description, and fuedal japan is often a major inspiration for whole games or certain themed locales within them. So would you reinvent a fantasy land inspired from this era of warfare? Then follows would be a game based around many warring clans, and a system devised by the aristocracy, used to divide peasantry from their lordship. A la Bushido.

sounds like a tolkien atmosphere (each area rich in distinguishing detail)

i guess then my question would be, how much of a mythical/magical atmosphere are you interested in bringing in, and wherein would you involve nature (for instance the many elemental and natural creatures in the tolkien books and others). Also any instances of history you think would provide strong influence?

personally i quite like dredd. it succeeded in it's own goals a lot more than any other sci fi recently.

and your idea seems good. The whole tower fiasco as a major theme to the plot was quite present in the ideas that me and textured had with a sci fi game. Only thing obviously is that each level needs to transition from the last one to the next, because if you are displaying this whole tower during an exposition for explaining the game, the player needs to have a constant situational awareness and distinguish certain areas for whatever reason. All of this can be quite tricky when instead you don't really have to limit yourself to a tower (unless you have other reasons) and can still have gauntlet-style gameplay.

just download one or two, burn them to disc's, and back up everything you want to keep. the first one i tried worked fine.
