do you know any decent debates about america's foreign policy / america's overseas actions that happened recently? I know intelligence[sup]2[/sup] is having one soon but not for a while
it would be more focussed towards the mountain peasants, completely segregated from government by being part of this structure, but are ruled by those physically and metaphorically above them. i'd have to say the backdrop would be mostly revisionist b.c. china. feudal japan is just an easy example to use cos its quite broad in themes.
i have been reading the silmarillion lately, so atm a lot of influence would come from around there... but to make the theme coherent, i would go for a more game of thrones back drop but more feudal japanese/chinese - you know those limestone mountain paintings that you often see - i would like the theme to be more human and any mythical creatures would be beasts that you fight. but, i would think tolkien would be a good jump-off point for concepts nonetheless.
what i was kind of thinking was a episodic or act form of release. because this tower thing is vast and organic it would be possible to make different areas distinguishable. i.e. lower steppes >> mountain village (like nepal) >> upper steppes >> above the clouds >> tundra >> (constant blizzard area) >> mountain interior/caves (take shelter from blizzard) >>>>>>> pretty much anywhere. by having a fantasy backdrop, you dont really have to ground it in logic so much as in other genres. say sci-fi, you have to keep it in the tower and most of the tower will be pretty similar.
ok here's an idea. you seen the raid:redemption? ok, that but with a medieval/fantasy twist. the tower block is actually a carved mountain withs towns, dungeons n **** etc. the story is you're a warrior/hero/whatever, your objective is at the top of this mountain/mesa/tower thing and the entire game is you starting at the bottom working your way to the top, fighting through bad guys dungeons and stuff. the ending is you were fighting just to get to see the view from the top. i think this could be all done in a quirky style for like iOS like sword and sworcery. turn based combat or maybe something similar to infinity blade with dodges, parries, blocks. i'd sketch up some **** for ya, but im revising, so ill do it later.
I'm basically waiting til i can get the dedicated fibre broadband line at work sorted ... then i'll be able to download it quickly, rather than raping my home connection :(
Welp I've been playing lol lately and dota2 looks pretty cool and better. What would be modelled is hero equipment and couriers which are little characters.
you should practice modelling stuff by making stuff for dota 2. ill draw it 2d on paper and you model it ;)
