I was just thinking about the Halo 3 days when the community was much more strong and fun, and I was simply suggesting to bring back some of the things that made me want to log on to Forgehub and Halo itself. Years ago I enjoyed competing in the SNF: Beat the staff; basically just get the community together more often than usual. These pop up every couple months I suppose but maybe bi-weekly? or the Forge template contest. I loved the template contests and seeing how people use the structure.

I guess I'm just desiring the olde days!

I dunno if I'd say out of touch, or at least not much more so. I'd never really been that avid a customs player, which seems odd every time I think about it.

Honestly I just lost the drive for it. I've long questioned exactly how suited I was to it in a certain sense since I haven't even touched forge since early Reach, and haven't actually put out a map since mid Halo 3. That would be fine if I was an avid custom player and maintained a good perspective on the forging of others, but that isn't true either nor has it been for a long time. My perspective was incredibly limited in that sense, and whilst I've maintained a key for mechanics and balance in the game at large, I just didn't feel particularly qualified as a forge journo anymore. But that was true for a while before I retired, and I think the real difference maker was that I just lost my energy for it. There's something wonderful about coming here and having nothing required or expected of me other than obeying the rules.

I'm aware that kinda sounds like criticising the nature of being a staff member, and honestly that's not the case. I used to enjoy it so much, had a genuine passion for it, and the nature of the position didn't change, just that I did I guess. Like I say, I lost the energy for it and it ended up feeling more like commitment than passion. I realised I wasn't really enjoying visiting the site as much anymore, and that told me all I needed to know.

I do miss being in the staff forum though, interacting with the other staff and talking about the day to day running of the site. But that's ultimately the other side of the same coin.

Regarding the footage from my TGIF, the guy who captured it never got me the footage. At least we livestreamed it, I'll make sure to host again in the future and record it myself. Sorry Arse Tea.
