Haha sorry. I had a lot of free time last week so I experimented loads, which is why there are so many versions. I'll work on making everything fit together. If you know that two things definitely don't work together, tell me because it'll really help. :)

Mhmm, it doesn't save my outbox/sent PMs. Which I would want to go back and check :/

Basically, deathpits are only good when you don't die in them. (lol)

Ah you mean like in prince of persia 2008.

Still with the death pit. I never recommended a death pit. That was your invention. I offered a potential cliff edge on 1 side. The point was to not make you feel like you could jump out of the map boundary only to die while standing on solid ground.

Did you download that edit I made. It's a pretty weak edit but a few basic concepts are in there as well as you can pop out of the map and get a better reference where I was going with the whole map location change thing. He keeps breaking things with the scope of some of his revisions. I'm probably almost done offering advice due to the level of involvement and the fact that it's likely becoming less helpful and more overwhelming for him.

Uploaded the file, it's just an idea upload not a fix or custom. I threw in a mock courtyard at the location that I was suggesting over by the asteroids just as a frame of reference.

I'm not really one to game with people that I only know online. I have popped in on a map edit or two but that's about it.

Basically I created a couple upper walkways that are inside the room that leads to the new jump pad. I raised his virtually untrafficked walkway at the back of the room and then instead of going down it now goes up and hard lefts it to above his bridge door. I also started a higher walkway at that bump at the console room that takes a left around the corner to run parallel to the other walkway I raised. It continues above the first door and goes through one of the large pillars and connects to the end of the first upper walkway I made. They both open to a door above his original door that is connected to the bridge. This is the new location of the bridge's connection. the lower entrance still exists and opens to the courtyard.

      Confused yet?
Yaaaaah, best to wait until I get my gold and upload the file :)

Checked out the latest map. It was an interesting redesign. I think it improved some problems and created others. Too late/early to explain. I made an edit based his latest, but I can't upload until I renew my sub. Hopefully after I regain consciousness later today :)

lol, I hate VM window because of the order it uses for left messages :)

      (This is in order)

I love death pits, they're deathly . . . deadly? . . seismicly challenged? though I'm not sure how death pits came into discussion. Technically the only thing I really recommended with regards to falling was moving the map to an asteroid that can contain his courtyard and remove the need to use rocks to keep inside the map. Falling off of ledges from the outside is still there. The only new threat is introduced by not rebuilding the walkway that goes between the tower and the building with the jump pad, or the rocks underneath it. Those can be changed to entrances to the courtyard. Thus offering a reason to traverse the courtyard.

I think there are alot of good types of risk I just hate that we seem to be blanket ruling out falling to our deaths. I got grief for not including railings on my Hornets Nest map. People were complaining that they fell to their death unnecessarily. I thought it was necessary. They walk off a ledge - they die. Pretty standard cause and effect.

In short the point of the move is to increase the possibilities of the map not break existing ones. There is no death pit, just the addition of 1 asteroid ledge. the benefit to the rest of the map is that it now allows opening up the back of the map without having to close off more space or build kill zones to stop people from jumping to the ground below.

Do you believe that we should over simplify maps/games so that everyone can play safely and comfortably? I fall to my death in games all of the time but I don't let that be a reason to lower my self worth.

Falling to your death isn't a waste of space, it is an environmental hazard. If used in the wrong way it could be a waste of space. The use that I am suggesting is allowing what is already outside his map area to become a drop off. The courtyard itself will remain in tact. Anything under the walkway will now become a fall space. He could always block the area below the walkway. If he removed the walkway I recommended then that edge would be good to leave open as a real hazard.

Creating open windows at the back of his map could be viewed as a drop off, but only if you jumped out the window :)

I call wasted space an area inside a map that serves no purpose. Say you had a field at the back of a map. Instead of putting a fence there and blocking off all but the area typically used, the map dev left it wide open and empty. That would be wasted space.

He has a courtyard that is set up but only 20% of it is usefull. I don't concider the option of diving off of the upper ledge to run to the door a real selling point. People need a reason to do more than just door hop.
