I honestly can't tell. It's not just resting on the game, it's largely about how much it's embraced by the competitive community.

I maintain that Halo 3 wasn't the best competitive title even though it was great. But it saw MLG's height of popularity, which meant you got the biggest influx of new known talent and people like Snip3down going from no one to superstar in months. What mattered was how much it was embraced, and by how many. It rode off the success of Halo 2 and took it further, and with the downturn that Reach saw the best we can hope for with Halo 4 is a revival. MLG has seen its first downturn, and it's gonna be interesting to see how the Halo 4 atmosphere is even if it brings up popularity again.

I don't think it'll ever feel the same, cause nothing will, that's just how the progress of time is with competitive games, but we could have another heyday potentially. I really think it could go either way.

I may rip on H3 a lot, but I genuinely miss those days.

Right now the DMR looks like a beautiful RoF to me, about as fast as it can be whilst still feeling natural to me, but I'll definitely have to try the Carbine before saying for sure.

CR is boss, but my main beef is the stun. People made the argument that it follows the same principle with the rocket but with a somewhat greater demand for the same reward in terms of use. That actually convinced me a lot, even if I still don't enjoy it as much as I could.

I'm still unsure. It's definitely a contender right now, but the RoF is going to be key, as is the nature of the spread with the unscoped shot. If it's even less useful unscoped at range than the BR then I'm not sure how versatile it'll truly be. I know it's a single shot and more powerful when scoped in but I'm constantly winning battles in Reach because of my ability to have ranged battles without needing to scope in. If it's going to be a constant disadvantage at mid to longer ranges unless it's scoped then you're gonna have a bad time.
