Yeah I figured that 1000 downloads in a week might be an exaggeration. We should forge sometime though, combine our styles into an awesome mega-map.
It's good to see you releasing maps. You have a talent that need be recognized. Angst looks outstanding. Keep up the good work.
QuakeLive Buyers Guide - New Maps Overview pt.1 - 720p - YouTube Solo's map was an exact remake of a QL Premium map named Hektik. Go to 10:42. Unless you already knew that.
Already did, really. Gotta redraw it with a little more thought on different parts of the map other than just that idea.
So I was drawing down this map. I had 1 sender bottom mid and 3 recievers on the top platforms of the map. I finished and I was like "wtf, I need 2 more senders!" Then I had an idea. Block all 3 receivers with plasma batteries make them all visible from bottom mid so you can choose which part of the map you go to by blowing up the plasma batteries. (Each platform is connected to 1 of 3 rooms on the map not including the center.) Then the will re-block after, say, 5 seconds. But what if you open 2 at once? Nope. Set the minimum number of plasma batteries to be 2, then the second you open a second one, the previous one closes. That way, not only can you choose the part of the map you go to, your opponent can put you on the opposite side of the map from where you wanna go (away from a power weapon, for example) or bring you to them for the kill. Interesting idea for a 1v1, no? I know it sounds very noobish, but I have an idea of how to carry it out cleanly.
Hey, I know we may have gotten off on the wrong foot, but I acknowledge that you know a lot of things about map design that I'm still beginning to grasp. Would you mind taking a look at something I'm working on sometime? I'm not asking you as some sarcastic kid but as a fellow map maker who wants to improve.
I see where you're coming from, but then people could say Lux looks like Nexn's, Zen. They both use 2x2 banks and purp FX. I'm going to need your help with testing Lune, eventually; if you're up for it.
