I think we come at a cross then. I can't justify a life devoted to games, unless it comes to a practical fruition. I think the over-commercialization of games is insidious in and of itself. It's not a hobby that is in all ways completely justifiable. I merely dislike the state of games as they are. But I can see the value in your thoughts. Do what makes you happy, be free and be merry.

I think I've come to the conclusion that the majority of gamers that play competitive games are seeking more than what's really there. At the end of the CoD and Peggle both have their entertainment value. However, CoD loses it's distinction as just a game and people get lost in it, justifying their excessive playtime. I think that's the main reason people get so upset over competitive games. Their just insecure. At heart they must know that all games are fantasy and they should be spending their lives on it.

He ended up getting really pissed off about it and played CoD for a couple of hours. I was at my best friend's house and we were both of the opinion that he brought it up and it was unnecessary to have harsh feelings about it, because they are just games.

The other day I got into a discussion with a friend about the competitive aspect of certain games. He randomly brought up that TF2 was a crap game and for children in an obvious troll move, but a feeling he takes to heart. We discuss it for a bit, then he says I should play a real man's game like COD. I absolutely lol'd in his face. Then he went and researched what the most competitive shooters were. The results were CoD and Counterstrike. I lol'd again and told him neither of those were the most competitive. That the king of competitions shooters was quake and that he shouldn't take stake in what's popular, because that's the reason COD is in MLG, because they can make money off of it. Just an insight I thought I'd share.

Organisation pretty much, spurring people into actually knowing that the game is going down on the 30th. Little bits really that need pushing into people.
