a 3D holographic room, could have skeletal structure of ships, could show the damage in kind of wireframe, with damage shaded in red

Maybe a large reactor to power the facility?

"I could make the fighter-jets/space ships antonymous. They could arm and be deployed all automatically. Like being lifted onto a runway, and flying off to their destination.

I could have holographic monitors projecting real-time battle plans, giving a hint as to what's going on. A Japanese facility with battle-plans of east-coast America could be interesting?"
What about something similar to that scene from cod 4
--12 minutes 52 seconds (I didnt WANT it to autoembed >:O!)
where it shows the nuclear warheads and their trajectories, with the area of effect, only it would be for the ships/vehicles and possibly could have the trajectories coming from several facilities.
You could colour code a map to show what parts of the globe ar

Structurally the ship would be designed around it's combat effectiveness. If it's purely a space battling ship then it would maintain a low profile, large array of battlements, and hangars for fighters.

If it's a smaller ship meant for interplanetary movement, then it needs to be designed around atmospheric flight and what have you.

That's just the general shape of the ship though, although if it's a stealth ship then it would have darker undertones and wouldn't be ornate.

If it's a passenger vessel or even a diplomatic one then it allows for decorative designs.

It could be a royal frigate that was attacked by pirates and had to port at the nearest shipyard. There's a large open cavity where one of the missiles ripped a hole in the hull. Maybe the player is investigating the ship while it's under repairs or is part of the pirate crew sneaking in for treasure.

Art wise, I was almost thinking of irregular hexagonal armor plates with maybe a gold iridescent metal finish. Depending on what you think the background narrative would be is where you take the design of the ship. If you want it fancier then the narrative should fit that. I don't think a military ship would have those colors or even that shape, like the one in the picture. But maybe it's a smugglers ship, a royal escort, or maybe an assassin...

You're totally free to explore your own creativity. If you want to do a collab on something then we'd have to work out what we wanted to do. Starting with the core idea, narrative, art deirection, etc.

I'm not saying to design a full on game, but I think it would be just as important to show the level of interactivity the player can have on the environment. I love the idea though it's ambitious and has the potential to turn a few heads.

I'd be down for working on this over the summer.

Right now I'm getting familiar with gamemaker and currently working on a prototype.

I'm halfway to getting a new PC money wise, so it'll be soon maybe another month to getting a PC.

Certainly sounds interesting as a setting, though not without precedent, even in very recent terms it sounds somewhat similar to Blacklight (depending on how much of a focus you have on the neon). It's definitely one I enjoy very much, but to you any idea what kind of gameplay would go along with it to give it a more distinct feel?

I'd love too, but I'm not sure how I could be of much help. I don't have a system that can run any modeling software besides sketchup.

Unfortunately no. I'm not much of one to give a place a proper setting.

Umm, but maybe throwing a few ideas out there

Maybe try a new-age babylon, a city full of gardens or something. As far as withing a Japanese City? Your best bet is too look up photos and do some research for inspiration.

I mean I could help you, but I couldn't give much advice towards art direction unless I knew what game direction you wanted to take it. Knowing you, you should take a look at the upcoming Deus Ex: Human Revolution. I would say to add more contrast in environments.

I'm both happy and jealous of you at the same time. Go for it, give it your all, the rewards should be great.
