To me the maps finest point is how ridiculous it can get. It's just a lot of fun. It's honestly hard to look at it as a competitive map. I'd rather just get as many people in that confined space as possible. The carnage that breaks out is just down right hilarious and a blast!

Hey I uploaded a video on my file share it's a video of I think 10? of us playing There is no F in Way. Let me know when you get it so I can take it down :)

Onto There is no F in Way... When i first booted up the map, I'll be honest I didn't think much of it. We played a smaller game on it and the armor abilities and grenades just got in the way. I put together a gametype that had no armor abilities and no grenades. We then played it with 12 people, and it was insanely fun. It gave the grenade launcher real use without the grenades, and there wasn't a whole lot of dying as soon as you spawn. We also had a game of swat magnum on it that was a blast. I really like the map but when you post it I recommend posting it with a gametype as I'm not sure it has lasting appeal with regular slayer with armor abilities. But beyond that it was unexpectedly incredibly fun!

I am testing another map called Aegir, it's in my fileshare and has some heavy Heretic/midship influences. It also has an outside area that is made interesting by a ladder that runs from the second floor to the fourth floor, so a player can instantaneously change the field of battle. It actually ended up working very well. I'm testing it with friends and the Forging Assembly is helping me by testing it as well and going over it with a fine tooth comb. (I highly recommend joining that group, they are VERY helpful and you would make a great addition in giving players advice with their maps. The great part of the group is it is a small community and when you post a map you get two to three full reviews and they follow it up as you make improvements.) Anyways I'd love to hear your input for Aegir as well.

Thanks for the input! I hadn't heard any complaints on the upper floor being cut off in Haven, but i see ur point. My problem with allowing that is Jetpackers already get an advantage being that there are bridges (Something I am trying to get away from as evident in Rhem) And red team jetpackers can quickly get to the sniper on the upper walkway. Haven's strongest point is 1-bomb though, I highly recommend it

I've heard several complaints on the explosions in Rhem, but then others love them. I ultimately decided to keep it in, as the map plays great in Infection and the shaking and noise really adds to the tension. For Team Slayer Players I recommend just selecting the explosives and clicking delete all in forge if it bugs them. A Cartographer actually found rhem and asked me to submit it for Infection matchmaking, but it ultimately failed as lag presented itself in 3-4 player splitscreen. All that made me rethink the map in Infection terms, which is why they were ultimately left in

I downloaded the map and I'm sure I'll be able to get some matches on it this week. I've actually been looking for a good 1v1 map, so I'm really excited to take a look.

Forgot to tell you that I was able to take a look at the original planet caravan and I do really like the changes you Made. The cover improves the map while keeping the look the same. I still think there should be more ways to reach the top of the map however. Maybe extend the man cannon to allow use on more floors?

LOL, I think you got a little over zealous but I appreciate your enthusiasm. It kinda reminds me how you first dealt with the line of site issues.

First things first, always make sure your man is pointed in a direction that he will immediatly want to go. Don't assume he will want to look around and see what's what. If he is facing a direction that he would almost never go (especially a wall) then there is no point. Try to give him a little cover and most importantly make sure he is 'facing' where he's in most imminent danger. I would rather get sniped from the opposite side of the map on spawn, then get stabbed in the back. I overspawnded Hornets Nest but I did it in a way that works to create a randomness that isn't easy to come by on such a small map. On the upper sides of Fountainhead there is no need for so many choices as none of them change anything on such a large map. I would point one spawn in each direction, and halve the spawns on the remaining map.

I know you want to keep the map arranged so that you have to work to get to the weapons but at the same time there is nothing nicer than spawning in the perfect place at the perfect time. I enjoy a good roll of the dice. I also don't mind a good spawn kill as long as it's a rarity, but then I love calling my friends Bastards :)

I'll refer you to Bungies map "The Cage" again for some inspration. I haven't checked the map but I bet they cover all the different game types with a similar spawn layout that you should use. At the very least it should give you some ideas.

Yeah I definitely likes the layout of port.

By the way I just uploaded a newer version of fountainhead, i believe you will enjoy the spawns :)

So I haven't seen the original caravan but i did look at tahros port last night and really loved it. Looks like it plays great and it inspired some new ideas of my own. Anyway great job!

You mind if I ask what the first thing you laid out for the port? It's interesting to me what a map is built around. For example fountainhead started on the 8x8 two center floors attatched to the three story buildings, and anthem started with the glass drop down. Although I'm thinking about starting that map from scratch keeping what I like about it but giving it a new location and keeping it open rather than closed.

Hey, I took a look at your version of caravan but not the original, I'll grab it shortly.

Just finished up 'most' of a new map. The basics are all there, just have to fiddle around with weapon spawns a dress up the place a bit more. But it's almost all there.

      Care to take a look?

      Anthem

Note: the glass in the middle of the floor is a drop down.

As always thanks for the help!

The changes you made in the last revision are much better. they are more subtle and yet still effective. I'm not shooting down the idea of lowering the whole level but it is alot of work. Since your map is symetrical I would recommend you test out your ideas in one of the corners. The water won't directly play a roll on your map so all you need to do is arrange the rocks as you would if they were in the water. If you really like the results then lower the whole level. I kinda wanted Lower my Hornets Nest map about 20 feet but since the benifits were so trivial compared to the work I just left it. Crap, I still haven't uploaded my last edit with the minor fixes. It's been 6 months since I uploaded the original. :) 73 downloads even though it's not displayed anywhere. I really need to get some pics and vids together so I can post to the hub.

Thank you for your continued advice! I've reuploaded another version using your advice to stop me from making the drastic change that was admittedly a quick fix. I've left the stand lowered and the man cannons lowered and also left the side landing platforms more in line with the edge of the map but did away with a lot of the thrown in cover. I did leave some of it however but made it more visually appealing. I'm going to hunt down the map your talking about and give it a look for more ideas.

Another idea I wanted to pass your way was what if I moved the map down to the water (As time consuming as that would be) and used natural rock formations to break up some of the sight lines?

Thank you for taking a look at my map and making suggestions! I've taken many of the suggestions and created a newer version of the map. Screenshots of the changes are at the bottom of my Map's post and all links will take you to the updated map. I'd appreciate it if you would take a second look and let me know how you feel about the changes!
