pft it's 1.5 times the size if you ask me. it's an illusion because all the numbers are ones and two's. ha...
i dont understand how the LB would be twice as big. If N players play each other, then half will win and half will lose. in the next round, half of the half that were in LB will lose and drop out, and half of the half that were in WB will drop into losers bracket, filling that gap at the expense of WB places. In the next round half of LB will drop out, and half of WB will drop into LB, and because the LB gets a regular seed of players, the ratio of WB to LB players will exponentially decrease. etcetera etcetera. So in R1 1/2 win 1/2 lose. In R2 1/4 win 1/2 lose. In R2 1/8 win 3/8 lose. In R3 1/16 win 4/16 lose. In R3 1/32 win 5/32 lose. That would be the ratio of players compared to how many initially started, but it explains how the LB would get gradually bigger. Do you understand me or am insane?
Geometry is about 95%. Just gotta do spawns and gametypes with shadow. Probably tomorrow or wednesday. Testing within the week or next I'd imagine.
Winners and Losers exclusively I would consider more fair on players, allowing anyone to really push themselves through a few rounds with practice, however it will create issues. As mentioned above(below :@), you will get a lot of drop outs, that work their way out of the tournament through the losers bracket. This creates a lot of missing players in the losers bracket, meaning that their games will end long before the winners end and they play the finals. This is quite a big thing, when you have weeks between the losers and winners brackets finishing, especially when it means the winners have played weeks more games against other teams.
All Players ultimately it's fair, anybody could be playing anybody, winners or losers. You could argue that this would be less fun because people would not necessarily be put up against opponents of the same skill set. If a lot of games were like this then generally it would suck. It is the easiest to organize though, as all the numbers would add up (explained later). Something else you have to account for is that you will find a considerable number of drop outs, and as the tournament begins they will sift through the losers bracket resulting in a lot of empty games. Seeding all players in the same way removes the bias that is inherent on the losers bracket, so you no longer find that you have less games.
okay i had a bit of a think about random seeding, there are two ways to do it based on what forgehub usually does for tournaments, and those are seeding all players into a roster, or seeding winners bracket and losers bracket exclusively into their own rosters.
at work right now (Central Time Zone), but will hopefully be on in about 3 hours. I'd love to do some Throwdown; my map is woefully under-tested.
Much appreciated. I don't know if I'm gonna be able to stay awake much longer :P My conversion software is telling me an hour and a half still. So I'll have it uploaded either early tomorrow morning or in the early afternoon. Thanks again
So I was informed that you were doing SUs now so do you think you point people in this direction in the SU?
Gahh I never really spend time around forgehub anymore. I went from forging to getting to caught up in the MLG scene, it's frustrating trying to captain a team..
"However, I think we can safely put this thread to bed now since the game is not just released but maturing nicely like a fine cheese." You just made my day, Peggy xD
Wait, why is having 117 posts good/bad? You confuse me Pegasi! And yea, the top 4 will be a good watch. I'm sure some other teams (who I can't think of) will practice and pull through. I dunno, I feel a shock coming at Cbus
No I havent, and I can't. I'm on mobile. And yea, but I was kinda happy FB didn't dominate this time around. They have for the past like year.
WOAH. WOAH WOAH. WHAT NOW? INSTINCT DROPPED T2 AND TOTZ AND ADDED PISTOLA AND OGRE AND CHANGED NAME TO FINAL BOSS? WTF?!?!?!?!?!!!!?! I'm completely stunned right now. Absolutely stunned,
