Like I said, it was very different opinion among players because of what they liked. I thought it worked pretty well, but since players moved at the same speed it was difficult to play defense unless you were godly with evade. That's the main reason I suggested sprint so you could mix things up.
erm... well the score got kind of lopsided because one team would sit right infront of the goal and continuously score, but that could hopefully get fixed. tbh some people complained that it wasn't fun. That may have been because they wanted to play some slayer, or they were bothered by the 1 hit kill thing..
I played 2 games of velocity. I'll give you what I thought in a bit, but my stomach is killin me right now.
Overall the balance is slightly one sided. The attackers are easily capable of spawn killing the defenders while his friends score points as I found out to my dismay during a custom game. It would be best to remove the jet-packs as they allow the attackers to just leave a flag on the rock ledge, go back and get a new one while one of his friends scores it for him. But otherwise this map is pretty well balanced and the addition of the sniper rifle in the castle was a good idea, as when you aren't cheating with a jetpack, those buggers are annoying. Another point is the fact that you almost always overshoot the colliseum when you aren't shot by the defenders. The original post you said you were going to keep this as it gave the map more challenge to it but there is already enough challenge getting past the defenders. So if you maybe put some more rocks around the ledge it would make the map more furfilling.
