Mains networking adaptors? That's the only advice I can remember giving on the subject, have a look on amazon or somewhere to get a rough idea for prices, but yeah I use them and they're pretty good when Wifi isn't reaching far enough for a proper connection. You'll need 2 ethernet cables as well, one for either end.

Turtle Beach X11s are your cheapest option, at $60 you get mediocre simulated surround, mediocre sound quality, not particularly comfortable headphones that you probably wouldn't want to wear outside. It's still the cheapest option by far and if you can't afford anything else it's still alright. Probably the best starting headset.
