Then you were probably playing with a gametype that had vehicle use disabled. I have no clue how that would happen.

grenade regeneration – enabled
secondary weapon – battle rifle
base player color – black
important player color (flag carrier, VIP, etc.) – gold
flag/bomb carrier speed and gravity set to unchanged[/spoiler] It plays best with symmetrical territories and allowing territories to be recaptured (not sure of the exact settings).
