Everything except the first part, completely fair enough. And, with your foresighted use of our square brackety friends, so is the first part tbh. It just makes me cringe to read such a comparison.

[To me] it's so much more than that, amazing teamwork, second to second strategy and tactics, and insane skill plays which literally illicate loud and involuntary verbal reactions from myself. Still, that is down to enjoyment and nothing more, I love playing it and watching it. I often wish more MLG people would think this over just a bit, then maybe we wouldn't face either snide remarks or all out hate at near every turn.

It's possible I'd agree with you if BR and Snipes weren't my favourite two weapons in the game by a loooong way.

But still, idk. I think the full H3 sandbox makes an absolutely fantastic game, but as a purely competitive exercise I can see why MLG made their decisions. I think that it's actually this which allows for such precise and tactical gameplay in MLG, but tbh it is at the cost of much of the fun for most people, and fair enough, who plays a game in a way they don't enjoy? Though I do feel that actually a good deal of people in to MLG are purely there for the fun (perhaps satisfaction would be a better word) factor of MLG style play, and lack an understanding of what team work actually means if you're good.

Viewing my profile page now breaks my iPhone, so thanks for that :P. But yeah, fair point.

I can't find a screen or clip of it, but a perfect demonstration of what makes it for me happened at MLG Orlando a couple of weeks ago. Lunchbox (doesn't matter...) is about to put in a flag, but gets blown over the cap point by a nade when jumping. Rather than risking getting shot, he chucks the flag off to his team mate and they have the point before he's even landed. Selflessness isn't something generally associated with MLG, but with Instinct at Orlando we saw it really shine, and we so saw it doing so and almost not dropping a single game on the way to a first place finish.

Although I think the best bit is probably that both of those are equally true of the same game.

      Touche ;).

Thing is, I hate vehicles. Hate using them, hate being killed by them, love killing their occupants. But I still agree. The practical balance often wavers either side of just right in MM iterations, I agree, but in terms of their general implementation I think it's really fluid and often underrated as a plus.

But tbh I just like the increased emphasis on team work over individual impact, obviously the latter is vital, but I think they brought the balance just that bit closer to the team and strategy side which works better overall as a team game.

Really? I'm surprised to hear that. My comment came more out of seeing similar things come in droves on the MLG forums when Reach is discussed and H3 is inevitably slandered as a result. I just be grouchy, don't mind me :P.

Mind if I ask why though?

I'm a 36 year old dude that has always been in love with Halo. I was one of Halo 3's most active forgers, and have had several maps featured on Forgehub, as well as had a map in Halo 3 matchmaking rotation. These days, I mostly just forge for relaxation and for something to play with my personal friends when we can get together.
