That could be cool....though a different area of map design I think so something to think about on separate plane.
Interesting....personally I think my way of thinking wouldn't work (it's more of a like: "why do you think this is how it is?" "what would the map be like without it?" that kind of thing) with a video...but could be awesome if there was a well written thingamabbible.
I like the idea of a youtube series too but unfortunately I'm ridiculously bad when I know my voice is being recorded...so I don't think it'd work with me...not to say we can't use the idea, but I probably couldn't do it.
Yeah...well, the class I gave before was, for the most part, mentality. I asked a lot of hypothetical questions with no really good answers that forces them to think about why things are how they are, and I figure from there you should have enough understanding of design to be able to make your own. No actual forging involved. Voice chat might be possible, the problem is that it's hard to put that somewhere where people can access it. I type fairly quickly myself (probably around 80 wpm), so maybe I'm just underestimating the amount of time it takes....but I don't plan on going particularly fast, and leaving quite a few "any questions" and such. Though you may be right about the voice chat, at the moment I'm just kind of thinking out loud to get the best possible options.
hey...someone gave me an idea I'm really liking which is to have a forge class over Skype chat. I'm thinking that way might be easy to force people to think in terms of design instead of aesthetic touches or for taking the map for what it is...though I'm not sure it's easier, it's all a matter of visualization I guess. It also makes it really easy for them to distribute the chat log to others, or to have a lot of people in there (though I want to keep the chat for the most part clear except when I want comments and questions and answers and such...). Anyway, thought I'd mention it and see if you have any ideas. My way before is that I did it very loose and tried to improvise, but that won't work in text so well I'd think.
Wow, I will definitely send an invite your way the next time I get on to forge. I love some of your other maps, and your experience will definitely help my map.
Its cool dude. I got a start on it anyways. its looking pretty good soo far. And Yeah, I'm down to do the thing on Sat. Is it 8pm est?
I posted my map preview "ouroboros" in forge discussion. Let me know if you think you can make a sketch-up model from these drawings, or if you need some clarification.
I also got another idea for a map. I'll put together some drawings, and maybe you can throw it on sketch-up?
Hey, i got started on that map!! I already made some small changes just based on some videos and screens of the original. I'll let u know when i have enough to show you
Haha wow its already back again? Dedication, my friend. Haha hey 105 bucks can go a long way! I'd save it till a few tests are done though
