Ye, Finder seems to be a lot faster in my experience, not only in loading (is it me or was it kinda a joke how long it took to load a finder window considering what Finder is within OS X?), but in copying and indexing etc. I was also promised faster Sys Prefs, but tbh I haven't really noticed a noteworthy difference in that department.

I'm pretty sure the one my dad has said 'upgrade' (it was definitely the cheapest one available), didn't seem to matter for me, I just told it to install on a blank partition and away it went. I think they all say upgrade on the principle that if you're eligible to use a new version of OS X, ie. having bought a Mac, you already have a previous version installed, thus you should technically always be upgrading.

So you reinstalled the apps after you'd upgraded? Dang, dunno what to suggest tbh, I think you're right that it'll just have to be a wait until apple fix it deal.

Wait, if you had a clean HD, why didn't you just do a fresh SL install instead of L then upgrading?

Ah, I know the type. Have you tried a reinstall? Just a guess, but it could be that it's slowing down due to being installed on Leopard and now running on SL, though I've no idea how arduous a process reinstalling/setting it up again would be.

I don't use the other two, so the only thing I can suggest is my old resort of a quick Googling of the problem, maybe someone's worked out how to up performance back to what it should be.
