Muuch better. The only thing I'd suggest now is to Gaussian blur the background and maybe apply a soft ripple filter to the splatter clipping mask. Looking a lot better though, nice work.

I'm liking it, I'd change the BLUE text color because it's really hard to see, also, try to make the text interact with the focal more. I would also suggest putting the layer with the displacements on it to either hard light, soft light, screen, or lighten only, then mess around with the opacity. Just do what looks good, but make it a bit less apparent. As for the clipping masks of the US flag, I'd either make them around and close to the spartan or farther off and less visible. Lookin' good though,

Ah, okay, for the clipping masks in GIMP, Iceickle has an incredible tutorial here. Follow those steps, it's kind of hard for the first time, but after a while you memorize the steps and can do it pretty easily.

As for the lines, take the path tool. Make a path where you want the lines, then click Stroke Path. I used 3px. Then choose a different color, and move the path a LITTLE bit. Then click stroke path again. Then go,
Filters>Distorts>Ripple. Mess around until it changes it a little, just to make it more flowing. Rinse and repeat.

I'd suggest sharpening the spartan, and possibly applying some filters on the background.

      Filters>Map>Displace
Fool around with that until it looks nice. BnW bg is okay, but the spartan needs something else to make him stand out.

Okay, well, post something you think has potential, and I'll help you out.
Keep in mind Depth, Lighting, Flow, Text, and color when you're making it.

Sounds great, I'm crazily busy pretty much every day except for sunday and monday, but I can help you via Forge Hub VMs at about 9-10EST. I'm on GMT in alaska, so you're four hours ahead, but I'm sure we can work something out. I think weekends would be best though, for the more in-depth instruction.

So, what do you want to lean? I can show you something that I've made, and then explain the steps in detail, and how it works, or we can go over the basics and the idea of siganture making, and the terms, or you can show me something and then I can tell you how to improve. Whichever is fine with me.

Hey, Cal. I saw your post in the Sig School thread, do you still need someone to teach you sig basics in GIMP? I'd be up for it, I love passing on knowledge.

Hey, in your request in my signature shop, the link for the render isn't working and I would really like to use the render for an idea I have for your signature.
