Neither is better; the price of a Mac far outweighs it's benefits in my opinion. However, others who are rich can waste their money however they want. I think you really should just ask them how they use their computer. Does it justify the price they paid for it? Most of the kids at my school who own $1000+ Macs only play media and surf the internet. I can do the exact same thing on my 5 year-old Linux notebook which I paid $500 for. They can talk about performance for price ratios all they want, but it's like paying $700 for a surplus amount of milk rather than pay $4 for one carton. Sure, you're saving money buy buying it all at once, but what the heck are you doing with the extra milk? It's spoiling.
