Thank you dude, that's honestly nice to hear. My tendency to mentally pick apart everything and my constant focus on wording and communication sometimes leaves me so utterly miserable that it's not true. It's good to know that, not only is it sometimes actually fun to indulge in such discussion when the other party actually has some sense between their ears and a desire to listen as well as speak, but that others can find that same enjoyment in it.

The feeling is mutual as I'd hope you know.

Good ol' Tex with a "cks" now? It seems you've been keeping the joint nice and tidy, well done.

God I know the feeling, even if I can get past the fact that 90% of the people posting apparently don't read the argument thus far and simply trot out some base reaction with no justification, often one which has been laughed out of the room earlier in the thread. Even then, I often get deep in to an argument and simply end up thinking, what does it all matter? Philosophy fails in ultimate terms, the constraints and nature of our mind obscure what ultimate truth there may be from us, and our language is a laughable means by which to convey such conclusions as we may reach in suitable terms. But when I actually enjoy discussion like this, when I feel like not only is it fun but that I'm actually benefitting from it as a person, growing if you will, then I remember why I do it.

Tex my man, you will never be the only one. Well, that is unless the evil woman ever gets her way and finally does away with me :P. But still, FH has sense a plenty, it's just very concentrated and surrounded by a certain kind of mind which looks at intellectual debate and thinks "waaaaaaaah, listen to me!".

I know dude, I've got a lot more respect for you than to assume such a claim on your part. On that note, discussions like this are really enjoyable, so a nod of cheers to yourself for just being you and being as up for the discussion as me. It's easy to lose faith in the benefit, either larger benefit or simple emotional enjoyment, in argument at times on FH, the debate forum so often makes me utterly sadface.

I honestly can't think of which way to approach it tbh, in terms of applying logic to your argument. I'm ok at convincing more suggestible people to a viewpoint which I myself don't support via supposed logic, but this generally entails twisting logic to a situation which seems convincing, yet in which I see a flaw of logic, the trick is just to keep this flaw a secret :P. Doesn't really apply here though, I'm stumped I'm afraid.

Like I said, don't think I won't be sad too. But there's a difference between being sad about something and claiming an injustice or failure in logic as the reason for such sadness. Don't think me without emotion, I'm as defined by it as you, not always listening to those emotions without logical examination isn't the same as not having emotions in the first place. It's the only logical and productive way to conduct discussion, the common ground of logic must be used or it's simply a lot of people saying "this is how I feel about situation x", which neither convinces nor achieves anything. I personally extrapolate this principle to the rest of my life since I see the extended logic applying to pretty much all human existence and interaction, that's how I live my life and I wouldn't put it upon anyone else, but when it comes to discussion the benefit of using logic as a common ground, the only one which really works, is clear to my mind.
